Reporting to the Major Gifts Director, the Donor Engagement Director will be responsible for elevating a portfolio of existing donors, managing one annual signature ask event, engaging a portfolio of new donor prospects, and launching a new Corporate Popcorn Sale. Quivira Council serves 4,000+ Scouts annually across 49 counties in Southern Kansas and is slated for dramatic growth by the end of 2026! In 2025, Quivira Council ranked 3rd nationally in Endowment Focus and in the top 15% for FOS Performance. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Scouting professional with passion and success in fundraising or development to take the next step in their career with a Scouting America Council that is on the rise. Aggressively prospect and solicit support for the annual Investment in Character (FOS) campaign. Steward strong relationships with a portfolio of supporters and community partners through exceptional service, thoughtful recognition, personal communications, curated experiences, and meaningful interactions. Manage the planning and execution of the annual On My Honor Breakfast (net $500k+) and draw support for other special events. Launch a new Corporate Popcorn Sale to elevate business relationships and annual revenue growth. Train on Once Cause and/or Bonterra for special events and donor communications. Continue educating on these and Blackbaud to ensure that they are being utilized to fullest capacity. Support the overall philanthropic efforts of the organization with donor research/cultivation, unit visits, data entry/collection, proposal preparation, event planning, public presentations, and other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated success in fundraising for a Scouting America Council. Campaign leadership experience desired but no required. Experience recruiting, retaining, and managing volunteers for Scouting initiatives. Excellent interpersonal skills, naturally calls via phone before sending emails Strategic, efficient, and aggressive in efforts to meet goals. Skilled in public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Tenacious and diligent in researching and pursuing opportunities that will bring success. Committed to ethical practices and focused on helping others. Reliable, organized, punctual, responsible, disciplined, enthusiastic, creative. Proficiency in Blackbaud, One Cause, or Bonterra preferred but not required. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Must be willing to relocate to Wichita, Kansas. Must be willing to accept and meet Scouting America's leadership and membership standards. Subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law. Attained 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law. Ability to work varied hours as necessary to achieve success - traveling, evening activities and weekends. Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one week. Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference and motor vehicle background check.
