Based on experience, knowledge, and qualifications The East Side Soup Kitchen is seeking a dependable, organized, and skilled Office Professional to support the day-to-day operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a busy nonprofit environment, interacting with the public, volunteers, staff, and community partners, and managing multiple responsibilities with professionalism and a positive attitude. This role works closely with the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
The successful candidate should have experience and knowledge in: Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Publisher Data entry and maintaining accurate records Professional telephone etiquette and customer service Email correspondence Operating a copier, scanner, and other standard office equipment Filing, organizing, and maintaining office records Scheduling and coordinating volunteers Managing volunteer schedules, changes, and coverage Strong time-management and organizational skills Fundraising support and donor communication Preparing letters, flyers, forms, reports, and other office documents Calendar management and appointment scheduling Working effectively with a diverse staff, volunteer base, and community Handling confidential and sensitive information professionally Multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities in a busy environment Problem-solving and working independently when necessary Pay attention to detail and accuracy expected Professional written and verbal communication Ability to learn new programs, procedures, and office systems General administrative duties and willingness to assist wherever needed
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE
Answering and directing telephone calls Greeting visitors and assisting guests Scheduling and coordinating volunteers Maintaining volunteer and office records Data entry and updating databases/spreadsheets Preparing correspondence, forms, reports, and promotional materials Assisting with fundraising activities and events Managing emails and office communications Filing and maintaining organized records Ordering and monitoring office supplies Assisting with calendars, meetings, and special events Making copies, scanning, and completing other office tasks Supporting the Executive Director with administrative as needs Assisting with the daily operations of the East Side Soup Kitchen Performing other duties as assigned

Duties Manage accounting tasks including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and analysis using accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage. Prepare and review tax documents for individual, corporate, and partnership clients, ensuring compliance with tax law and regulations. Assist with tax return preparation by gathering necessary financial data, verifying accuracy, and submitting reports through tax preparation software. Provide outstanding customer service by addressing client inquiries related to tax filings, financial concepts, and account management. Support public accounting activities by conducting audits, reconciling accounts, and maintaining detailed records of tax documents and financial transactions. Conduct client communication efforts to acquire new clients through marketing initiatives while nurturing existing relationships. Perform technical accounting tasks including payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions. Qualifications Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of financial concepts and tax law. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and other financial reporting tools. Strong knowledge of tax compliance procedures for individual, corporate, and partnership taxes. Excellent math skills with the ability to perform complex calculations accurately; 10 key typing skills are essential. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients. Experience in public accounting or tax preparation software is highly desirable.
