Job Description
AnimalKind is opening a low/no cost, high-volume, high quality spay/neuter (with limited wellness care) clinic in Raleigh. We're hiring the founding operational leader who will help us open our doors — and shape everything that follows. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader and skilled communicator who can inspire a team, build community trust, and keep a fast-moving organization running smoothly.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Executive Director role has been designed for the realities of opening and operating a nonprofit clinic. You'll be hands-on — working alongside staff at the front desk, supporting client communication and scheduling, and filling gaps wherever needed — while simultaneously leading strategy, fundraising, finance, compliance, and people. You'll work in close partnership with a full-time Medical Director, who owns clinical leadership, protocols, and medical staff performance. The successful candidate will be required to work on site in the clinic office in north Raleigh.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead daily clinic operations and ensure efficient, high-volume patient throughput Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors Develop and manage the operating budget; oversee payroll, A/P-A/R, and financial reporting Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise staff alongside the Medical Director Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEA, FDA, and NC veterinary board requirements Lead fundraising, grant writing, and donor stewardship with Board support Represent AnimalKind publicly — with donors, media, civic partners, and the community Oversee AnimalKind's thrift store business, ReTailsQUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field 5-7+ years of leadership or management experience Financial management and operational oversight experience Preferred Master's degree Nonprofit, veterinary, or high-volume service background Knowledge of HVHQSN or community medicine models Fundraising and grant writing experienceBENEFITS
