Based at 332 Hudson Avenue in Albany, New York, the Center serves a ten-county region and exists to promote the well-being of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, Two-Spirit, and other gender- and sexually diverse people, and those affected by discrimination based on gender identity and expression. The Center provides direct services, education, training, community space, and advocacy, and produces Capital Pride and related signature events. The organization is committed to creating safe, affirming spaces; advancing equity and justice; and remaining a trusted, leading resource for LGBTQIA+ and allied communities across the Capital Region, including rural and suburban communities. The Opportunity The Pride Center of the Capital Region seeks a full-time Executive Director. The Executive Director serves as Chief Executive Officer and leads the Center in meeting organizational goals within the framework set forth by the mission statement and bylaws. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills; a clear and inclusive vision for the local LGBTQIA+ community; and strong organizational, community-building, advocacy, and proactive outreach skills. The Executive Director will proactively engage and build trusting relationships with community members and partner organizations, conduct ongoing needs assessment and listening efforts, and translate those needs into the design and implementation of high-quality programs, advocacy initiatives, and support systems that reflect and respond to community priorities across the Capital Region. The Executive Director will plan and implement a successful development strategy ensuring the long-term growth and stability of the Center, promote the organization and its mission, and serve as an ambassador and advocate in the communities it serves. This role centers equity and advocacy, with an intentional focus on improving the quality, reach, and accessibility of services for historically marginalized communities, including communities of color and transgender and gender-diverse people.

Compensation and Benefits Annual salary:

Qualifications at a Glance Demonstrated experience in the nonprofit sector, including a minimum of three years in a senior management role. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in public speaking, fundraising, and team leadership, with the ability to represent the Center effectively to diverse stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and operational accuracy are essential, along with excellent interpersonal and strategic problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities is required. Knowledge of the greater Capital Region is an asset but is not required.
