Job Summary Buffalo Peace House is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead strategic initiatives and strengthen programs, partnerships, fundraising, and organizational sustainability. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide hands-on leadership while advancing the organization's mission and long-term goals. Founded in 2009, Buffalo Peace House provides safe housing, support, and community resources to families seeking asylum in Buffalo. We partner with community organizations, agencies, volunteers, donors, and service providers to help individuals and families move toward safety and stability.
Implement the new 20th Anniversary Strategic Plan 2027-2029 and oversee administration, policies, compliance, confidentiality, and organizational resources.
Staff, Volunteers & Board:
Supervise and support staff and volunteers; collaborate with the Board on strategic priorities, planning, growth, and sustainability.
Programs & Resident Services:
Strengthen and develop programs and services that support asylum-seekers and residents.
Fundraising & Financial Management:
Cultivate donor relationships, support fundraising and grant activities, and oversee expenditures, payroll coordination, and financial administration.
Community Engagement & Representation:
Build strong relationships with community partners, referring agencies, service providers, and stakeholders; represent BPH at meetings, trainings, conferences, and community events while advancing its mission and values.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Leadership & Management:
Experience leading programs, staff, volunteers, or nonprofit operations, with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Community & Relationship Building:
Ability to develop trusted, collaborative relationships with diverse partners, stakeholders, donors, and community members.
Fundraising & Administration:
Experience or familiarity with fundraising, donor relations, grants, financial administration, and organizational operations.
Mission & Cultural Competence:
Genuine commitment to supporting asylum-seekers and working respectfully with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Professionalism & Judgment:
Compassion, cultural humility, discretion, adaptability, initiative, and sound judgment, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Board and community partners.
Required:
Valid NYS driver's license, clean driving record, personal vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
