For more than 115 years, Buffalo Audubon has inspired people to connect with and protect the natural world through bird-focused activities, environmental education, advocacy, and habitat restoration. Established in 1909 and affiliated with the National Audubon Society, Buffalo Audubon serves the eight-county Western New York region from its headquarters at Trillium Nature Center at Beaver Meadow in Wyoming County. Located within the globally significant Great Lakes ecosystem, Buffalo Audubon plays a vital role in protecting habitats that support migratory birds and other wildlife throughout the year. About the Role The Executive Director serves as the organization's chief executive and primary ambassador, overseeing all aspects of operations and strategic growth. Key Responsibilities Drive fundraising efforts and cultivate donor relationships Manage organizational operations and a budget reaching over a half million dollars Lead and inspire staff, volunteers, and board members Oversee environmental education and conservation programs Strengthen community outreach, advocacy, and public engagement Support board development and governance initiatives Guide strategic planning and organizational growth Ensure sound nonprofit business and financial management About Our Team The successful candidate will join a committed and supportive community that includes: A dedicated 15-member Board of Directors 5 staff members Nearly 100 volunteers A broad network of supporters and community partners throughout Western New York Qualifications Required Experience & Education Bachelor's degree required Minimum of 5 years of progressive management and leadership experience, preferably within small-to-medium non-profit organizations. Demonstrated success in leadership, organizational management, program development,strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and revenue development.
