Job Summary Executive Director Tupper Arts, Inc. — Tupper Lake, NY Tupper Arts, Inc. is seeking an experienced, community-minded Executive Director to lead our multi-disciplinary arts center in the heart of the Adirondacks. This is a rare opportunity to shape the cultural life of a small rural region — overseeing a vibrant visual and performing arts program. Position Overview The Executive Director provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the organization, working closely with the Board of Directors to advance Tupper Arts' mission. The ED oversees a small but dedicated team, and serves as the organization's chief representative to donors, community partners, and the public. This new position will take a lead role in the oversight of a major renovation of a theater, including management of state and private grants. Duties Operations & Administration Oversee day-to-day organizational operations including facilities, technology, human resources and vendor relationships Build and maintain administrative systems appropriate for the organization; ordering goods and services, building maintenance scheduling, tracking attendance of visitorsLeadership & Strategy Partner with the Board to develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan aligned with the organization's mission and financial reality with short and long term goals and metrics Be the primary face of the organization to donors, funders, municipal partners, media, local businesses, and the arts community. Foster a positive, inclusive organizational culture that attracts and retains talented staff Prepare for and present operational reports at all board meetings; support board recruitment, orientation, and committee work Fundraising & Development Lead all fundraising activity including individual donor cultivation, major gifts, annual fund, and other giving opportunities Maintain and grow relationships with foundations; oversee grant writing and reporting (with staff or contracted support) Develop and steward corporate sponsorship program for events, facilities, and programs Lay the groundwork for future capital campaigns as the organization grows Financial Oversight Develop and manage an annual operating budget in partnership with the board treasurer and finance committee Monitor financial performance across across all program areas (gallery, classes, theater, live performances, special events); ensure accurate and timely reporting on cost analysis of each area Ensure compliance with all nonprofit financial, legal, and regulatory requirements including annual audit Ensure system is put in place to pay invoices and submit reimbursement requests to grant sources in a timely manner Oversee the administration of all grants and contracts Program Oversight Supervise the Director of Performing Arts, The Director of Visual Arts, and contract staff as assigned (bookkeeper, grant writing consultant, fund raising consultant, etc.) Ensure program quality, community relevance, and maximize earned revenue performance in all program areas Build upon current relationships and expand new programming opportunities that build on organizational strengths and collaborations with core community pillars; schools, Village, Town, Library, local businesses, and other not for profits. (Party on Park, Holiday Stroll, Student Art Shows) to events, logging donations, and other day-to-day activities Oversight and management of organizational communications and public presence, including website, social media, print and press media. Monitor organization email system and direct communications to the appropriate party Qualifications 3+ years of experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and/or donor relations Experience managing staff and volunteers Strong financial literacy, including budget development and oversight Excellent communication and community-relationship-building skills, including website and social media management Passion for the arts and commitment to rural/small-community cultural life Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
Compensation & Schedule Salary:
$60,000 - $65,000
