Full Job Description Our Mission:
Hearth is a non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of homelessness among the elderly. This mission is accomplished through a unique blend of prevention, placement, and housing programs all designed to help elders find and succeed in homes of their own.Overview:
The Associate Director of Individual Giving will play a pivotal role in the fundraising operations of Hearth. This role is suited to an ambitious, experienced fundraiser with a background in direct mail/annual fund, donor communications, and relationship building and management. This position will provide a pathway to major gifts as well, with this individual will have their own portfolio of major donors and play an integral role in growing our individual donor base. This is a new position, designed specifically to build out our donor pipeline, working closely with the Development Director on annual giving and major gift strategy, from acquisition to planned giving. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively as part of team.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and manage strategies for Individual Giving
- Build and acquire mailing lists to maximize reach of direct mail appeals
- Oversee print, segmentation, mail, and fulfillment timelines with outside vendors
- In conjunction with Development Director, develop compelling appeal letters and proposals for individual donors.
- Assist in content creation for Annual Report and Newsletter publications, while building these mailing lists with outside vendors.
- Build out processes around matching gifts and employee campaigns to maximize engagement.
- Oversee monthly giving program, The Kindling Club
- Assist with identification, cultivation, and stewardship of individual donors to maximize contributions and sustain long-term support.
- Increase organization's donor retention rate.
- Assist with gift entry and acknowledgment via our donor CRM, Raiser's Edge NXT.
- Track donor performance and explore new strategies to maximize revenue
- With guidance from Development Director, manage a portfolio of 50-100 individual donors.
- For Major Gifts, create individualized engagement, stewardship, and giving goals for donors based on history and affinity of supporter.
- Advocate for social justice. Develop written content to promote Hearth Inc.'s mission and impact
- Assist team with the creation and production timelines of collateral materials.
- Stay up to date with the latest direct mail and major gifts practices, tools, and trends to continuously improve our social media presence.
- Help team coordinate logistics for fundraising and special events, including maintaining guest lists, emails, preparing registration materials, and liaising with vendors and post program follow up.
- Provide general administrative support to the department and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. Masters Preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in a nonprofit fundraising department. Development experience is a must for this role.
- Experience maintaining an annual fund/direct mail fundraising program. Portfolio management not necessary but preferred.
- Comfort with public speaking and donor relationship management.
- Experience with email communication systems like Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar programs
- Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Design experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
- Familiarity and comfort with databases and/or CRM software. Raiser's Edge NXT experience preferred.
- Strong personal work ethic with the ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Solid writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Self-starter with good judgment, critical thinking, flexibility, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in implementing new systems and strategies to strengthen the organization.
