Aunt Lute Books Co-Executive Director in Administration Job Posting About the Organization Aunt Lute Books is a 44-year-old non profit, intersectional feminist press dedicated to publishing literature by writers who have traditionally been underrepresented or excluded from the literary canon. For more than four decades, Aunt Lute has championed bold, boundary-pushing fiction, to create space for voices and perspectives too often marginalized within mainstream publishing. About the Position Aunt Lute is seeking a motivated and collaborative Co-Executive Director in Administration to help co-lead the organization through its next stage of growth and sustainability. This part-time position (20-22 hours per week) works in partnership with the Co-Executive Director in Operations. The Co-Executive Director in Administration will focus primarily on fundraising, grant writing and resource development, financial oversight, organizational growth and strategic planning, community engagement and Board relations. They will uphold Aunt Lute's mission and values in their leadership and decision-making. This is a hybrid position based in San Francisco. Ideally, candidates should be able to work in-person once a week and attend events.

Job Responsibilities:
Development In collaboration with the Board of Directors, creating and implementing fundraising plans that primarily focus on private foundations and individual annual donors. Working closely with staff and Board to accomplish revenue goals consisting of major gifts, foundation and government grants. Financial Management Having a daily knowledge of where financial matters stand for the organization, which includes providing transparent fiscal stewardship that maintains a positive financial position and adequate control and accounting of all funds. Develop and propose an annual budget to the Board for their approval. Working with our accounting consultant to reconcile accounts and to write tax reports including city, state, and federal reports as required. Organizational Growth With the Board of Directors, creating short- and long-term strategic plans in support of Aunt Lute's mission and documenting progress towards achieving them. Developing and improving organizational infrastructure, including business processes, systems, policies, and tools, to maximize efficiency and future growth. Community Engagement/Outreach Participating in relevant community events and cultivating speaking skills to deepen local networks, engage new donors, and expand community presence. Developing and nurturing positive relationships with other arts and cultural organizations. Supporting staff in planning and executing events sponsored by Aunt Lute in partnership with mission-aligned organizations. Practice feminist leadership styles and ability to engage with racial/gender equity organizations. Staff Management Work with the Co-ED in Operations to manage the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel while implementing sound human resource practices. Co-managing the oversight of employee performance and delegating responsibilities. Promoting a work culture that is inclusive, equitable, transparent, and respectful of all backgrounds and identities. Board Relations Support the board in recruiting and identifying prospective members who bring diverse skills, perspectives, and strong commitment to Aunt Lute's mission. Maintaining regular communication with the Board Chair through regular check-ins, and attending and supporting preparation for Board meetings, held every other month to advance organizational priorities and implement strategic planning. Position:
Required skills and qualifications: 3 or more years in non-profit organizational management within publishing, literary arts, or cultural organizations 3 years of experience in managing budgets; considerable experience working with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) Experience in grant writing, fundraising, and donor relations Demonstrated commitment to equitable and transparent collaboration with colleagues Highly competent in verbal, written, and visual communication Proximity to or ability to commute to the Bay Area for in-person meetings and events Preferred skills and qualifications: Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors Experience with fundraising tech platforms Knowledgeable with Social Media and Publicity Experience with

•Addendum The Co-Executive Director in Operations is responsible for: Accounts payable, receivable, banking, and account reconciliation Working with the accountant on account reconciliation and end of the year reporting. Reporting to the accountant as they close the financial year: on payroll, inventory, sales, etc. Payroll and related financial reporting Book inventory management, reprints, and shipping Serving as liaison with Aunt Lute's distributor, Ingram Overseeing royalty calculations Coordinating logistics for book fairs, events, and conferences Reporting to the Board on forthcoming book releases, sales, cash and investments, and other operational matters Streamlining and improving operational processes Managing the working budget in collaboration with the Co-Executing Director in Administration Maintaining institutional knowledge and organizational continuity in collaboration with the Co-Executive Director in Administration.
Pay:
$33,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
