We're led by and for people with lived experience — grounded in the belief that recovery is possible through many pathways, and that peers are uniquely positioned to support one another. The Opportunity Unlimited Alternatives is ready for its next chapter: growing from a single-site drop-in center into a broader peer-run Recovery Community Organization serving Grand Rapids and Western Michigan. We're looking for an Executive Director to lead that growth — someone who can steady and strengthen our operations while expanding our reach, our funding base, and our impact. What You'll Do Set strategy with the Board and lead UA's growth into a broader Recovery Community Organization Own UA's finances — budgeting, reporting, and diversifying revenue beyond our current funding base Maintain our core Network180-funded peer support services and ensure full regulatory compliance Supervise and support our peer workforce, and foster a healthy, peer-affirming culture Build relationships with funders, government partners, healthcare systems, and the recovery community Serve as UA's chief spokesperson and represent us in coalitions and advocacy efforts Support Board development and governance as UA continues to strengthen its foundation What You Bring Michigan Certified Peer Support Specialist or Recovery Coach (or current eligibility) 3+ years of leadership experience Strong track record in financial stewardship, including effective budget management, rigorous accounting oversight, and the ability to expand and diversify revenue streams Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience Demonstrated commitment to personal recovery and wellness. Excellent communication and facilitation skills Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation Nice to Have Master's degree in a related field Experience in grant writing Experience leading a nonprofit or working with Western Michigan recovery networks Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) credential Core Competencies Commitment to peer-led values and cultural humility Sound financial acumen and resource stewardship Strong relationship-building and public representation skills Steady decision-making and resilience through change
