EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The South Dakota NewsMedia Association, a member-driven non-profit trade association representing more than 100 newspapers and digital news outlets across South Dakota, is seeking its next executive director to lead SDNA and two affiliated organizations: South Dakota NewsMedia Services, Inc. (a for-profit advertising sales and placement organization) and South Dakota NewsMedia Foundation, Inc. (a charitable non-profit dedicated to supporting and advancing local community journalism). The successful candidate will have strong experience in the news media field with emphasis on leadership and management roles. A key responsibility is the oversight of SDNA's lobbying and advocacy initiatives, primarily at the state level and some nationally. Knowledge of the legislative and lobbying environments is preferred. The person must be a multi-tasker, consensus builder and a visionary with leadership skills. Strong written and oral communication skills along with organizational and time management skills are a must. Knowledge of financial reporting in the non-profit sector and an ability to set and meet budget targets are essential. For a more complete look at the job description, click here .
