Position Overview:

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and strategic leader of Women's Protective Services, Lubbock, Inc. (WPS), responsible for advancing the organization's mission to provide safety, shelter, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. This role oversees all agency operations, programs, staff, and resources, ensuring high-quality services, financial sustainability, and strong community partnerships. The Executive Director also serves as the organization's Human Resources lead, managing personnel strategy, compliance and culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Direction:

Organizational Leadership

  • Provide vision, direction, and oversight for all programs and services, ensuring alignment with WPS's mission and values.
    Strategic Planning
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies, annual goals, and performance metrics.
    Board Relations
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, provide regular updates, support governance activities, and implement board policies.
Human Resources Management:

HR Administration

  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations
    Policy Development
  • Maintain and update personnel policies, job descriptions, and employee handbook.
    Compliance Oversight
  • Ensure adherence to federal and Texas employment laws, workplace safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
    Culture & Training
  • Foster a trauma-informed, inclusive workplace; coordinate staff training in crisis response, ethics, and professional development.
    Program Oversight
    Program Management
  • Ensure shelter operations, advocacy services, hotline response, outreach, and prevention programs meet quality standards.
    Data & Reporting
  • Oversee data collection, evaluation, and reporting for grants, audits, and internal review
    Client Safety
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, confidentiality practices, and trauma-informed service delivery.
Financial & Administrative Management:

Budget Oversight

  • Develop and manage the annual budget; ensure responsible stewardship of funds.
    Grant Management
  • Oversee grant applications, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.
    Operational Efficiency
  • Maintain effective administrative systems, technology, and facility operations.
Community Engagement & Advocacy:

Public Relations

  • Serve as the public spokesperson for WPS; strengthen community awareness and support.
    Partnership Development
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, courts, healthcare providers, schools, and social service agencies.
    Fundraising
  • Lead donor cultivation, events, campaigns, and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications:

Master's degree required in social work, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field

Minimum 5-7 years of leadership experience

Experience in HR management, including hiring, compliance, and employee relations.

Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, trauma-informed care, and crisis interventaion

Strong financial management, communication, and organizational skilla

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain professionalism in high stress environments
