Since 2002, BISNF has provided inclusive, person-centered programs that foster independence, connection, and joy. Activities range from yoga and cooking to field trips, art, and life skills training—all designed to build meaningful relationships and celebrate each individual's strengths. Role Overview We're seeking a compassionate and strategic Executive Director to lead BISNF into its next chapter. This role combines visionary leadership with hands-on management across program needs, fundraising, operations, and community engagement. The Executive Director will serve as the public face of the organization and a key advocate for inclusion on Bainbridge Island and throughout Kitsap County. Key Responsibilities Lead with
Purpose:
Guide BISNF's mission and collaborate with the board of directors on strategic planning and development of short- and long-term goals.
Program Management:
Ensure high-quality delivery of the Stephens House program standards and expectations, including member and caregiver support; hiring, supervision, evaluation, and retention of staff; and the recruitment and development of qualified volunteers.
Fundraising & Outreach:
Meet annual fundraising goals in partnership with the board of directors by cultivating financial support from individual donors, foundations, and corporations and through the identification of, and application to, available grants.
Community Relations:
Serve as the face of BISNF,representing the organization at external events and in the media to increase awareness, visibility, and trust, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and engagement to expand programs.
Operations & Financial Management:
Oversee annual budget development, financial reporting, planning, performance, and funding compliance. Manage human resources needs and issues, accounts payable and receivable, insurance coordination, and facility maintenance and operational needs.
Board Partnership:
Work closely with board directors to assess and address issues affecting the organization and support their governance and policy development. Qualifications Proven experience in nonprofit leadership and management (preferably in disability services or community programs). Strong fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations skills. Personability and enthusiasm for being the public face of the organization. Financial management skills including knowledge of
DSHS/DDA
funds regulations and compliance. Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Commitment to inclusion, equity, and empowerment. Familiarity with Bainbridge Island is a plus.
