Job Description

What You Will Do Come join the best and brightest minds in the world at one of the most innovative and creative multidisciplinary research institutions engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The work we do at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) matters to our country and the world! As a First Line Manager (FLM) for ALDWP's Supply Chain Logistics Division (SCL-DO), you will oversee the Strategic Alliance & Continuous Improvement team. You will monitor ongoing process improvement projects, oversee multidisciplinary project team(s) in the planning, tracking, and execution of project plans, and manage team performance. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: Set expectations for the team's ability to manage and ensure timely completion of discrete technical or operational projects. Oversee project team defining project deliverables and schedules. Oversee project team approaches for planning, tracking, and execution of projects from initiation to completion. Investigate shortfalls, issues, and complaints in current business processes. Stay up to date with current management and process optimization strategies. Serve as the primary interface between program and line management for large and/or highly complex projects. Use independent judgment to negotiate with program and line managers ensuring that resources are available to accomplish work. Use independent judgment to monitor team performance, manage priorities and commitments, identify potential project risks, develop risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommend risk acceptance/avoidance. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to enhance productivity and personnel satisfaction. Analyze cross-organizational processes and procedures. Identify, develop, and implement continuous/quality improvements in systems and processes utilizing appropriate continuous improvement/quality improvement techniques. Foster a culture that values continuous improvement, organizational learning, and promotes safe and secure work.

Travel:

Minimal Travel and off-site work are required to meet position requirements and will vary depending on mission/project needs. Typical travel locations are other NNSA sites (e.g., LLNL, SNL, and NNSS) and/or select conferences.

Salary Range:

While the posted salary range for this position is broad, it is highly unusual for selected applicants to be hired at the top end of the range and more common for selected candidates to grow into the full salary band over time. #shiftwork

What You Need Minimum Job Requirements:

Applicants must submit a comprehensive resume reflective of relevant experience that addresses the minimum job requirements and desired qualifications of the position below for full consideration.

Education:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Leadership:

Demonstrated experience in the ability to effectively supervise, negotiate, conduct conflict resolution, mentor, and conduct personnel development.

Management:

Experience in managing people and/or projects, including planning, organizing, and resource management. Demonstrated experience creating work scope, schedules, budgets, coordinating work activities, and tracking progress.

Project Management:

Demonstrated successful completion of projects. Ability to seamlessly scale projects according to emergent needs and growth in scope.

Communication:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including giving presentations to large groups, senior management, and external customers.

Problem Solving:

Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of project management, process improvement, and change management activities in a highly regulated environment. Proven ability to analyze and resolve problems at both a strategic and functional level.

Collaboration:

Experience in interacting effectively with all levels of personnel (e.g., Building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts). Experience in developing and nurturing effective customer relationships.

Qualifications We Require:

Expert level Business and Project Management Acumen. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of professionals which skillsets range from Information Technology, Data Analytics/Reporting, Risk Management, and Infrastructure/Construction scopes. An active DOE Q-level clearance.

Work Location:

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Work Schedule:

This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Position Commitment:

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year. Clearance:

Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements

• for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

•Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test:

The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Incentive Compensation Program:

Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is pro-rated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
