Job Description
About the Opportunity Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Cost Analyst III to support financial excellence across its manufacturing operations. In this role, you will collaborate with Operations teams to optimize costs, analyze variances, maintain accurate standard costing, and support financial processes ranging from monthly close activities to the annual standard cost roll. You will also analyze operational and financial performance, support leadership decision-making, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and provide finance support for productivity commitments. What You'll Do Support month-end close responsibilities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and material variance analysis. Own and analyze daily and weekly financial and operational metrics and KPIs. Use financial and operational analysis to support leadership decision-making. Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports detailing the performance of key business metrics. Analyze and report the underlying business drivers causing variances from expected results. Assist with the development and presentation of monthly business reviews. Perform routine Bill of Materials maintenance. Support the annual standard cost roll and the maintenance of system costs. Perform production routing analysis. Support capital expenditure project management and analysis. Actively participate in and lead initiatives to improve execution and factory operational performance. Provide comprehensive finance support to enable delivery of productivity commitments through Practical Process Improvement. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma and/or GED plus 2 to 4 years of experience in cost accounting or finance, or comparable relevant experience in manufacturing, healthcare, or a similar field. Strong proficiency in ERP systems, preferably SAP or an equivalent system. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools. Demonstrated expertise in standard cost accounting, variance analysis, and inventory management. Experience with monthly and quarterly close processes and journal entries. Ability to perform cost modeling and analysis for business cases, new product introductions, and make-versus-buy decisions. Experience with Bill of Materials and production routing analysis. Ability to build effective partnerships across Operations, Planning, Procurement, and Finance teams. Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance requirements. Experience supporting internal and external audits. Ability to manage multiple assignments, exercise good judgment, and prioritize projects and time effectively. Work Location and Schedule This position requires regular on-site presence at 401 Mill Creek Road in Marietta, Ohio. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday. The work environment is an office setting. Relocation assistance is not available for this role. Employment sponsorship is not provided now or in the future. Compensation and Benefits Compensation range:
