About Alaska Helicopter Tours Alaska Helicopter Tours (AHT) is Alaska's premier helicopter and glacier flightseeing operator, known for our unwavering commitment to safety, service, and operational excellence. We're looking for an experienced leader to help us continue delivering world-class aviation adventures. Position Overview The Knik Base Manager serves as the operational leader for one of AHT's most complex and visible tour bases, located in Palmer, Alaska. This role carries direct, daily responsibility for tour operations, flight safety coordination, guest experience, and team leadership, and is central to how safely, smoothly, and profitably the Knik base runs. Scope of Responsibility Oversight of daily tour operations and guest flow Flight manifest and weight-and-balance verification Flight following and aircraft coordination Weather assessment and operational decision support Coordination with pilots, guides, transportation, and customer service staff Safety management and enforcement of operational procedures Guest issue resolution and service recovery Resource allocation, scheduling adjustments, and disruption management Support of fueling operations and remote logistics requirements Recruiting, training, and developing frontline staff Facilities and grounds oversight to maintain a safe, welcoming base Leading emergency response activities and after-action reviews Why This Role Matters Safety This role plays a critical part in enforcing operating procedures, coordinating with flight crews, managing ground operations, and maintaining safe conditions around aircraft and guests. Much of AHT's on-the-ground safety performance depends on effective leadership at the base level. Revenue Protection The Base Manager keeps tours running efficiently through weather changes, guest issues, aircraft scheduling adjustments, staffing shortages, and logistical disruptions. Strong, fast decision-making protects daily revenue and keeps resources used well. Guest Experience Smooth check-ins, on-time departures, clear communication, and fast issue resolution all start with this role. Guest experience is a core part of AHT's business, and the Base Manager is often the person who makes it happen. Staff Retention & Culture As the daily leader for frontline staff, the Base Manager shapes morale, reinforces company culture, and plays a direct role in training and developing the team, all areas AHT considers critical to long-term success. Required Qualifications 3+ years of leadership experience in aviation, tourism, hospitality, logistics, or a related operations field Strong organizational, decision-making, and communication skills A genuine commitment to safety and operational excellence Ability to stay composed and make sound decisions in fast-changing conditions Starting Salary is dependent upon experience Preferred Qualifications Aviation or helicopter operations experience Experience with flight following, dispatch, or weight-and-balance procedures Experience in an FAA-regulated environment SMS (Safety Management System) experience Alaska operations experience Why Join AHT?
