We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Terminal Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our freight forwarding terminal in Soldotna, Alaska. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and enjoys balancing operational excellence with customer service and business support. The Terminal Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant terminal operations while overseeing a small team of drivers and supporting business growth initiatives. Approximately 85% of the role is dedicated to operations management, with the remaining 15% focused on customer support, sales coordination, and business development activities. Success in this position requires strong leadership, operational expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to build positive relationships with customers and internal teams. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Operations Leadership Lead the day-to-day operations of the terminal, including receiving, staging, loading/unloading, dispatch, and freight movement. Supervise and support a team of approximately five drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive operations. Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and daily workforce coordination. Monitor operational performance, productivity, and service quality while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs). Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Human Resources, Safety, Finance, Customer Service, and Sales to support business objectives. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional terminal environment. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure full compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and all company safety policies and procedures. Monitor driver qualifications, Hours of Service (HOS), inspections, and regulatory requirements. Oversee equipment inspections, maintenance scheduling, and safe operating practices. Conduct routine safety audits and proactively address potential hazards. Lead incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action plans when necessary. Foster and promote a strong safety-first culture throughout the terminal. Customer Service & Business Support Serve as a key operational contact for customers, providing exceptional service and timely communication. Support customer follow-ups and help maintain strong client relationships. Coordinate closely with the Sales team on new opportunities and operational requirements. Participate in customer meetings when needed to provide operational expertise. Provide operational input to assist with pricing, service capabilities, and customer solutions. While this position does not carry a direct sales quota, success will be measured by operational performance, customer satisfaction, and contributions to overall business growth and EBITDA objectives. More duties may be assigned upon hire. What You'll Need Experience 1-5+ years of experience in terminal operations, transportation, logistics, warehousing, or freight forwarding. Experience working within LTL, freight forwarding, trucking, or distribution environments is preferred. Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations. Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with a strong operational background and demonstrated leadership potential are encouraged to apply.
