Job Description
Primary Objective The Operations Supervisor works closely with the Operations Manager and the other Operations Supervisors to supervise all operation technicians to include their daily activities to ensure the plant is running efficiently. The role coordinates activities including but not limited to safety, and process training, shift assignments, inventory, production scheduling, quality and environmental activities for team members, process, and equipment, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. Coordinate and provide support to other operational roles. Essential Functions Supervises and prioritizes work among teams to ensure proper safety compliance, proper environmental compliance, quality assurance, production demands and cost optimization. Thoroughly communicate activities, goals, and targets during work shift and at shift change Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements, including team discipline and documentation working with the Operations Manager and other Operations Supervisors. Promptly keeps manager fully informed of all problems of unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken. Recommends and performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned. Enforces all company policies and procedures Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid, promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness. Communication with Maintenance to ensure complete understanding of work requests Oversee work order tracking and issuing Oversee monitoring of equipment, process conditions, DCS and data Continuous improvement through procedure updates, and SPC Understanding relationship of data as it relates to process conditions upstream and downstream Maintain excellent communication with all chemical technicians, maintenance technicians, and contractors during start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and normal operations Active liaison to contractors to include expulsion from the site if necessary Continuous monitoring of equipment, process conditions, and data Stop any activity that could result in an injury to personnel or harm to the environment Be able to identify through experience when out-of-control process indicates potential problems to be investigated. Complete other duties as assigned by Site Management. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Internal candidates should be qualified as a Material Handler, Field Technician, Lab Technician and Control Board Operator External candidates should have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and/or business and have 2 or more experience as a supervisor in a chemical manufacturing plant. Good communications skills including written and verbal assignments Demonstrate competent computer skills
