Operations and Logistics Job Description:
The Operations Manager is responsible for all operations and logistic activities, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff. Allocating labor resources, tracking production schedules, and cost adjustments to ensure production, receiving raw materials, and shipping final goods happen as efficiently as possible and outputs meet quality standards. The Operations Manager shall supervise and evaluate the performance of production and logistic operations, enforce health and safety precautions, and help implement corrective actions and continuous improvement processes. Responsibilities:
Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production and logistic staff. Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep the organization accident-free. Communicating regularly with the management team regarding problems or issues impacting production. Communicating daily with cohorts at customers and suppliers on product status, plans, plan changes, and status of operations. Communication to customers when special escalation issues occur. Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime. Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations. Setting productivity goals and KPI's for each manufacturing and logistic team. Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality. Ensuring adequate scheduling of staff and other resources. Tracking Operations KPIs daily. Determining and implementing corrective actions based on Kaizen and 5 Why's. Developing clear communication with direct and indirect reports to ensure all company guidelines and rules are adhered to by the team. Ensuring job expectations and priorities for all direct and indirect reports are clearly communicated. Developing root cause analysis for areas of responsibility. Solving problems as they arise in areas of responsibility. Ensuring continuous improvement, housekeeping, and 5S standards are adhered to in areas of responsibility. Overseeing and participating in the hiring and training of direct and indirect reports. Conducting performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Ensures that performance evaluations completed by production and logistic.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Operations Manager managers are timely and constructive. Assures raises, promotions, and growth paths are reflected in performance evaluations. Identifying and sharing training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills. Conducting coaching, counseling, and disciplining of employees. Meeting internal and external timelines. Performing other duties as directed.
Additional area of responsibility:
In addition to the tasks described above, the employee is responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement process. The job holder actively promotes and supports the further development of the management systems according to IATF 16949 and
DIN EN ISO
14001, as well as the implementation of the goals from the target agreement. Personal competences, authority and powers of attorney under commercial law: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and managerial skills. Proven record in training employees about safety and production. Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Ability to coach and motivate employees. Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others. Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure. Required education, work experience, knowledge and PC skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or sufficient and relevant practical experience. At least 5 years or more experience in management of an automotive facility or Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers. Strong manufacturing management and employee relations experience. Successful in leadership/interpersonal communication principles to achieve organizational/customer expectations. Proven track record for excellent project management as well as employee training in productivity and safety. Experienced with Automotive Core Tools such as 8D. Advanced Business English knowledge, verbal and written. PC knowledge, basic data processing knowledge. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
