Field Operations Manager Christmas Lighting
Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on Field Operations Manager to take full ownership of our Christmas light installation crews during the busiest and most important part of our season. This is not a desk-only management position. You'll be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and managing the field team , while spending much of your day moving between jobsites to keep crews productive, projects on schedule, and installation quality consistently high. Your biggest responsibility is making sure we always have the right number of trained, capable crews available to handle demand . As sales increase, you'll recruit and build additional crews. As demand changes, you'll adjust staffing and crew structure to keep our operation efficient. If you've successfully led multiple crews in Christmas lighting, roofing, solar, window cleaning, landscaping, construction, exterior home services, or another fast-paced field service business, we'd love to talk. What You'll Own Recruiting & Staffing Own recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for all Christmas light installers and Crew Leaders. Maintain a strong recruiting pipeline throughout the season so we can quickly add crews as demand increases. Build, adjust, and scale crew sizes based on our installation schedule, sales pipeline, and upcoming workload. Identify high-performing installers with Crew Leader potential and develop them into leadership roles. Address performance, attendance, or staffing issues quickly so they don't impact our customers or schedule. Training & Crew Development Lead onboarding and training for all Crew Leaders and ensure every installer is properly trained before being sent into the field. Train Crew Leaders to effectively manage, coach, and develop their own crews. Establish clear expectations around installation methods, safety, efficiency, professionalism, and customer service. Continuously coach Crew Leaders and installers to improve productivity and installation quality. Daily Field Operations Take ownership of the performance of all installation crews each day. Monitor every crew throughout the day to make sure jobs are progressing on schedule and identify potential delays before they become problems. Move from jobsite to jobsite throughout the day based on where you're needed most. Jump in to help with complex installations, troubleshooting, difficult properties, equipment issues, or crews that are falling behind. Conduct jobsite visits and quality checks to ensure installations meet company standards before crews leave. Help resolve field issues quickly while keeping crews moving and customers taken care of. Hold Crew Leaders accountable for productivity, workmanship, safety, professionalism, and communication. Scheduling & Capacity Management Work closely with the office team to coordinate daily schedules, crew assignments, service calls, and changes throughout the day. Maintain a clear understanding of our available installation capacity and communicate that capacity to the office so we know how much additional work we can confidently book. Anticipate upcoming staffing needs based on the sales pipeline and installation backlog instead of waiting until we are already at capacity. Reallocate crews and labor throughout the day when jobs finish early, run long, or unexpected issues arise. Help continuously improve routing, scheduling, crew structure, and installation processes so we can complete more work without sacrificing quality. Quality, Safety & Accountability Ensure crews consistently follow company installation, ladder, roof, vehicle, and equipment safety procedures. Maintain high workmanship standards across every crew and minimize callbacks, avoidable service visits, and installation errors. Make sure Crew Leaders properly document completed work, jobsite conditions, photos, materials, and any issues that need follow-up. Monitor crew productivity and labor efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement. Help ensure trucks, ladders, tools, lifts, and other field equipment are ready for crews to operate efficiently each day. Strong candidates will have experience in professional Christmas light installation or another crew-based field service or construction industry , such as: Roofing Solar installation Window cleaning Landscaping or tree service Pressure washing Painting HVAC, electrical, or other skilled trades Exterior home services Construction or specialty contracting Previous Christmas lighting experience is strongly preferred, but it is not required if you have strong field leadership experience in a similar industry.
