Job Description

Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful operation of assigned landfills by ensuring sites are open and operating safely and efficiently. Effectively manages the day-to-day operations, safety and assigned Operations Supervisors. Ensures site compliance with all company, county and regulatory agencies.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages performance of day-to-day operations. Designs and implements landfill drainage and Fill Sequence Plans. Monitors soil usage and compaction to ensure all sites are in compliance. Meets and works with all enforcement regulatory agencies. Responsible for the training and development skills of the workforce by providing proper guidance and coaching. Engaging in the interview process in order to hire the most talented and qualified personnel. Attends weekly staff meetings with management team. Determines workflow, staffing levels, monitors equipment operations and maintenance, conducts safety training, all while fostering a work environment based on teamwork and cooperation. Ensures assigned landfills meet all Federal and State Regulations, OSHA and local requirements. Ensures equipment is maintained and monitors that it's repaired timely and efficiently. Operates heavy equipment as needed. Responsible to maintain and ensure the overall safety of employees, customers and visitors. Engages employees to create a safe, energetic work environment through feedback and recognition.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in construction or any related field. 5 - 7 years' experience in a leadership role. 4 - 6 years' experience in a construction / landfill environment. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, SWANA and other related state and federal regulations. Must have demonstrated leadership, problem solving and organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to effectively interface with general public and regulatory agencies. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the waste-recycling or transportation industries.

Full-time Pay:
$102,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
