Commercial Janitorial & Facility Services About Us We're a growing commercial janitorial and facilities services company serving a national base of technology, semiconductor, aerospace, and corporate clients. We run multi-site operations across several states, and we compete by holding a higher standard of service, accountability, and responsiveness than the rest of the industry. As we grow, we're looking for a hands-on operations leader to scale what works and tighten what doesn't. Job Overview The Director of Operations leads day-to-day and strategic operations across our full portfolio of accounts. You'll oversee account managers, regional managers, and field supervisors, and you'll own service quality, labor and supply cost control, safety, and client satisfaction at every site. You'll work directly with ownership to set operational strategy, protect margins, retain and expand key accounts, and build the systems and team needed for the next stage of growth. Responsibilities Lead multi-site janitorial and facility operations across multiple states, making sure every account meets contract scope, quality standards, and client expectations. Direct and develop the account management and field supervision team, including night-shift operations, and build a culture of accountability, communication, and ownership.
Own labor cost control:
scheduling, labor hours against budget, overtime management, timekeeping accuracy, and staffing levels by site. Manage supply and equipment programs, including usage against budget, inventory control, vendor relationships, and accurate billing of client-reimbursable supplies. Drive P&L performance by account and region through forecasting, budgeting, margin analysis, and corrective action plans. Build and maintain executive-level client relationships, including regular site visits, service reviews, and quarterly business reviews. Support business development by scoping new sites, building staffing and pricing models for bids, and leading smooth start-ups and account transitions. Oversee safety and compliance, including Cal/OSHA and OSHA programs, chemical handling and SDS, incident reporting, workers' comp management, and wage-and-hour compliance. Establish quality inspection programs, performance metrics, and standard operating procedures that scale across sites. Partner with HR and payroll on recruiting, onboarding, training, retention, discipline, and terminations. Identify operational risks, both internal and external, and lead the response to them. Qualifications 7+ years of operations leadership in commercial janitorial, facilities services, or integrated facility management, including multi-site and multi-state oversight. Proven experience managing large hourly workforces through a layer of managers and supervisors. Strong financial skills, including P&L ownership, budgeting, labor modeling, and cost control. Experience serving demanding corporate clients in tech, manufacturing, cleanroom, or similar high-standard environments. Solid working knowledge of safety programs, OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements, and California wage-and-hour rules. Experience with bidding, pricing, and launching new accounts. Excellent communicator who is as comfortable in a client boardroom as on a site walk at night. Proficiency with Excel, timekeeping or workforce management systems, and inspection or work-order platforms. Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred. Willingness to travel to client sites regularly.
