Job Description
Job Summary The Assistant Tasting Room Manager assists with many aspects of daily operations including, but not limited to, management of day-to-day operations when the TR manager is off, staff scheduling, development and implementation of training programs for new and existing team members, collaboration with logistics and inventory coordinator to satisfy the wine needs of each tasting room, and re ordering of tasting room food products and cleaning supplies. The position provides support, guidance, and training to Tasting Room staff to ensure the team meets sales and club sign-up goals. The position requires a willingness to work as part of a dynamic management team, motivate the staff, and interact graciously with guests. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will work to provide a healthy working culture to all DTC staff and help to create a Legacy of Quality. Essential Duties
- Daily collaboration with Hosts to develop strategy to maximize seating efficiency.
- Meet with Tasting Room Manager weekly to review weekly performance and discuss methods of improvement.
- Keep detailed records of San Simeon tasting room wine inventory and communicate weekly needs to Inventory and Logistics coordinator.
- Assist with staff scheduling, time off requests, shift swap requests, and timecard approvals.
- Schedule daily lunches and breaks for all staff to ensure legal compliance.
- Completion of daily cash register balancing and weekly bank deposits.
- Cleaning supply inventory tracking and re-ordering
- Oversee the accurate completion of the EOD bottle promo.
- Assist in resolving internal staff disputes and/or service recovery scenarios.
- Oversee the completion of all opening and closing procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tasting room SOP's.
- Assist with interviewing potential hires.
- Assist with timecard approval.
- Assist the Tasting Room Manager and Marketing Manager in driving tasting room traffic through engagement with the Pacific Coast Wine Trail, and networking with local Central Coast Wine community, local hotels, B&B's, and wine tourism operations. Secondary Duties (ensure staff completion in the following areas)
- Assists visitors with merchandise and other "to go" purchases.
- Sticker and restock paper and cloth bags daily.
- Restock merchandise and dust daily.
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures.
- Break down cardboard boxes in the wine room and deliver to recycling bin.
- Take out trash and recycle as needed.
- Restock toilet paper, paper towels, and toilet seat covers as needed.
- Always maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
- Clear used stemware, cheeseboards/knives, and paper, from empty tables.
- Refill sanitizer spray bottles.
- Replace dishwasher fluid as needed.
- Receive phone calls, make reservations, answer visitors' questions.
- Restock tasting room wine storage at the end of the day.
- Assist with cleaning restrooms at the end of the day. Essential Employability Skills and Attitudes

- Ability to drive a vehicle in the transaction of company business. This requires a safe driving record and the ability to provide evidence of personal vehicle liability insurance.
- Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies.
- Ability to demonstrate satisfactory attendance, and all Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Company policy.
