Frequent travel within assigned market; additional travel as business needs require Position Summary The District Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance of multiple PopUp Bagels locations within an assigned market. This role leads and develops General Managers, drives operational excellence, protects the PopUp Bagels brand experience, and ensures each location delivers strong results across people, guest experience, product quality, sales, profitability, food safety, and compliance. As PopUp Bagels continues to grow, the District Manager will also play an important role in new store openings, leadership development, and building scalable operating practices . This is a highly field-focused position requiring regular restaurant visits, hands-on coaching, strong follow-through, and the ability to move quickly in a growing brand. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership & Development Lead, coach, develop, and hold General Managers accountable for the performance of their locations. Maintain a strong field presence and conduct regular, purposeful restaurant visits. Establish clear expectations and provide timely coaching, feedback, recognition, and accountability. Build a strong leadership pipeline by identifying and developing high-potential team members and managers. Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, investigations, and other people-related matters. Ensure locations are appropriately staffed and that managers proactively address hiring and retention needs. Promote a positive, respectful, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture. Ensure required training is completed and leaders have the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully manage their teams. Operations & Brand Standards Ensure consistent execution of PopUp Bagels operating standards across all assigned locations. Maintain high standards for product quality, food preparation, speed of service, hospitality, cleanliness, organization, and overall guest experience. Regularly assess restaurant conditions and work directly with General Managers to address opportunities. Ensure managers are consistently using required operational systems, checklists, reports, and tools. Partner with Training and Operations leadership to identify and address operational or training gaps. Respond appropriately to urgent operational matters, including food safety concerns, equipment failures, injuries, inspections, staffing challenges, and significant guest issues. Financial & Business Performance Own the sales, labor, profitability, and overall financial performance of the assigned district. Review and understand P&L statements and key business metrics and coach General Managers on opportunities for improvement. Drive sales-building initiatives and identify opportunities to increase traffic and revenue. Ensure appropriate labor management based on sales trends and business needs. Monitor food costs, waste, inventory, cash controls, deposits, and other controllable expenses. Ensure managers complete required financial reporting and administrative processes accurately and timely. Identify performance trends and develop specific action plans for underperforming locations. Cash Handling & Internal Controls Ensure locations consistently follow Company cash-handling, deposit, reconciliation, and reporting procedures. Review cash and deposit exceptions and ensure discrepancies are addressed promptly. Reinforce appropriate inventory and asset-control practices. Escalate significant financial or control concerns to appropriate leadership, Human Resources, or Finance. New Store Openings & Growth Support the successful opening of new PopUp Bagels locations within the market. Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Training, HR, Recruiting, IT, Facilities, Marketing, and other departments throughout the opening process. Support recruiting, leadership selection, training, opening readiness, and post-opening stabilization. Ensure new locations are operationally prepared to meet PopUp Bagels standards from opening day. Provide additional field support during new openings and other periods of significant growth or transition. Help establish scalable processes and develop future leaders as the brand expands. Food Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with Company policies, food safety requirements, health department standards, and applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements. Ensure required food safety certifications, training, inspections, and documentation remain current. Reinforce accurate timekeeping practices, including manager and team member punches and timely review and approval of time records. Ensure incidents, injuries, government or agency visits, and other reportable matters are immediately escalated and properly documented. Partner with Human Resources when employee relations, leave, accommodation, wage-and-hour, or other compliance matters arise. Leadership Expectations The District Manager is expected to be a visible, hands-on field leader who understands what is happening inside their restaurants. Success requires more than reviewing reports—the District Manager should regularly observe operations firsthand, coach leaders in real time, recognize strong performance, and intervene quickly when expectations are not being met. The District Manager is also expected to operate with a high level of ownership. Issues should be identified, communicated, addressed, and followed through to resolution without requiring repeated direction from senior leadership. Qualifications 5+ years of multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, retail, or comparable operations leadership experience preferred. Previous District Manager, Area Manager, multi-unit General Manager, or similar leadership experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multiple General Managers and restaurant teams. Experience managing sales, labor, food cost, P&L performance, and operational KPIs. Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety, guest service, and cash controls. Experience supporting new restaurant openings strongly preferred. Strong communication, coaching, organization, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and growing organization. Ability to learn and effectively utilize Company technology and operating systems. Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout the assigned district. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation where required for the position. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on restaurant needs, including occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and new store openings. Key Measures of Success Success in this position will be measured through the performance of the district, including sales growth, profitability, labor management, food and operating costs, guest experience, food safety, brand standards, staffing and retention, leadership development, compliance, successful new store openings, and the consistent execution of Company expectations across all assigned locations. Physical Requirements The position requires frequent travel and restaurant visits and may involve prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or moving items consistent with a restaurant environment.
