About the Role Chi Omega at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a caring, organized, and relationship-focused House Director to help create a warm, safe, and well-run home for our members. This full-time, live-in position is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting young women, building positive relationships, and taking pride in the daily care of a beautiful and active chapter house. The ideal candidate brings warmth, good judgment, strong communication skills, and a steady, solution-focused approach to both people and property. This role blends hospitality, facility oversight, mentoring presence, and thoughtful leadership within a collegiate residential community. Position Summary The House Director helps ensure that the chapter house feels like a welcoming home while also operating safely, smoothly, and professionally. Responsibilities include facility operations, safety procedures, household staff, food service coordination, administrative records, move-in and move-out processes, and support for chapter events. The role requires discretion, flexibility, organization, and a calm, approachable leadership style. Key Responsibilities Facility Operations
- Oversee the daily operation, care, and readiness of the chapter house.
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, inspections, preventative maintenance, and vendor services.
- Track key facility systems, including fire safety, alarms, plumbing, electrical, HVAC or boiler, roof and gutters, kitchen equipment, appliances, access systems, lighting, furnishings, flooring, and exterior areas.
- Maintain records for maintenance, inspections, contracts, inventories, vendor work, and operating documentation.
- Monitor facility needs and communicate timely updates to the House Corporation Board. Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Help foster a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment where members feel cared for and respected.
- Support fire safety compliance, safety equipment checks, AED training coordination, and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Respond calmly and professionally to emergencies, facility issues, and unexpected situations.
- Coordinate with House Corporation leadership, university personnel, police, fire, security providers, and emergency responders when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment in all safety and resident matters. Household & Staff Operations
- Oversee housekeeping, food service, and other operational support services.
- Hire, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and, when appropriate, separate house employees and support personnel, including housekeepers, porters, handymen, and dining room managers.
- Coordinate menu planning and food service operations with the food service provider, cook, menu committee, and House Manager.
- Support special meals, recruitment, family weekends, appreciation events, and other house functions.
- Coordinate opening, closing, university break procedures, move-in, and move-out, including check-in folders, keys, resident forms, room inventories, supplies, and written checklists.
- Serve as a welcoming representative of the House Corporation and a trusted, approachable resource for students while respecting the student-led nature of the chapter.
- Build positive, collaborative relationships with undergraduate officers, chapter members, alumnae volunteers, parents, vendors, university partners, and community contacts.
- Communicate with diplomacy, discretion, emotional intelligence, and professionalism.
- Use and maintain technology platforms for electronic records, access systems, meal tracking, maintenance documentation, payroll support, and House Corporation reporting. Qualifications
- Experience in property management, residential life, hospitality, facilities management, operations, or a related field.
- Ability to manage vendors, maintenance projects, staff schedules, records, and operational priorities.
- Strong organizational, administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Calm, confident judgment in emergencies, confidential, or sensitive situations, with a caring and professional approach.
- Emotional intelligence and genuine enjoyment in working with college-aged students, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Comfort with technology, electronic records, and basic reporting systems.
- Ability to live on-site and maintain appropriate professional boundaries in a collegiate residential setting.
