Job Description

Overview The Director of Retail serves as the driving force behind our Colorado retail operations - leading six stores through operational excellence, customer connection, and compliance precision. This position ensures consistent profitability, brand representation, and compliance integrity across all markets while cultivating a unified, motivated, and high performing retail team. You will report directly to the Director of Operations and work in close partnership with the Directors of Compliance & HR, Cultivation, Post-Production, and Finance to ensure retail strategies align with company-wide objectives and operational excellence from seed to sale. A hands-on leader, you thrive on visibility—equally comfortable walking a sales floor as you are analyzing KPIs. You will inspire a culture that blends performance, fun, and regulatory accountability, ensuring every customer leaves knowing the Rocky Mountain High difference. Primary Responsibilities Retail Operations Leadership Lead, train, and motivate Store Managers to meet and exceed monthly sales, margin, and customer satisfaction goals. Oversee all daily retail operations, ensuring consistency across six Colorado stores in appearance, performance, and customer experience.

Develop and manage retail operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring each location adheres to brand and compliance standards. Conduct regular site visits for audits, training, and team engagement. Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure accuracy in daily deposits, cash handling, and inventory control. Sales & Performance Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs including sales per budtender, discount % of sales, average ticket, and conversion rates. Collaborate with Marketing and Post-Production teams to launch promotions, product bundles, and customer engagement initiatives. Identify performance gaps and implement action plans to increase revenue and retention. Ensure proper merchandising, signage, and brand presentation in all locations. Compliance & Risk Management Work with Director of Compliance, ensuring all store activity aligns with MED regulations, fire code, and local ordinances. Oversee all inventory audits, waste destruction documentation, and METRC accuracy across locations and in partnership with Director of Compliance. Ensure store staff are trained on daily compliance protocols (CCTTs, ID verification, purchase limits, patient management, etc.). Partner with Compliance & HR Director to investigate incidents, violations, or discrepancies and ensure timely corrective action. People & Culture Lead with empathy and accountability—driving performance through mentorship, not micromanagement. Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and training of Store Managers in partnership with HR. Implement consistent performance reviews and create growth pathways for internal promotion. Celebrate wins and inspire a fun, team-oriented atmosphere across all retail locations. Finance & Forecasting Review P&L performance per store monthly; track revenue vs. expense benchmarks and make recommendations for improvement. Partner with Finance to monitor payroll spend, discount ratios, and operational budgets. Forecast quarterly and annual retail performance metrics, supporting strategic planning. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of cannabis retail management or multi-unit retail leadership experience required.

Demonstrated success in leading multiple stores or regions. Deep understanding of Colorado MED regulations, METRC, and inventory controls. Proficient in data-driven decision-making and retail performance analytics (e.g., PowerBI, Excel, POS dashboards). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of leading diverse teams and building strong cross-departmental collaboration. Must possess a valid Colorado MED Key Badge (or ability to obtain within 30 days). Dutchie POS experience preferred.
