Job Summary The Executive Director/Assisted Living Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and performance of the Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This position provides day-to-day leadership to ensure residents receive high-quality care and services in a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment. The Executive Director is accountable for resident and family satisfaction, employee leadership and retention, regulatory compliance, census growth, financial performance, quality assurance, and overall community operations. Candidates must possess a current Florida Assisted Living Administrator license in good standing as required by the state in which the community operates. Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for all Assisted Living and Memory Care operations. Maintain full compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, company policies, and resident rights. Maintain an active Assisted Living Administrator license in good standing throughout employment. Promote a resident-first culture focused on quality care, safety, dignity, respect, and exceptional customer service. Oversee Memory Care programming and operations to ensure residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia receive appropriate care and support. Recruit, develop, coach, and retain department leaders and team members. Hold department leaders accountable for performance, staffing, service standards, and operational expectations. Ensure appropriate staffing levels while effectively managing overtime, agency usage, scheduling, and overall labor costs. Maintain strong communication and relationships with residents and families and promptly address concerns or complaints. Lead service recovery efforts and ensure resident and family concerns are investigated, addressed, and appropriately documented. Oversee community census, occupancy, move-ins, move-outs, and resident retention. Partner with Sales and Marketing to drive lead generation, tours, conversions, referrals, and census growth. Maintain relationships with referral partners, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other local stakeholders. Manage the community's operating budget and financial performance, including revenue, expenses, labor, accounts receivable, and NOI. Review financial and operational reports and develop action plans when performance is below expectations. Ensure resident assessments, service plans, documentation, medication management, and care delivery meet regulatory and company standards. Maintain survey readiness and lead the community through regulatory inspections and corrective action plans when necessary. Oversee quality assurance, risk management, incident reporting, emergency preparedness, and life-safety requirements. Conduct regular leadership meetings, staff meetings, resident meetings, and family communication as appropriate. Maintain a visible presence throughout the community and build strong relationships with residents, families, and employees. Foster a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, teamwork, communication, and employee engagement. Ensure the physical community is clean, safe, well maintained, and presented at a high standard. Respond appropriately to emergencies and significant operational issues, including after-hours situations when necessary. Perform other duties necessary to support the successful operation of the community. Skills Current Assisted Living Administrator license in good standing is required. Previous leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, senior living, healthcare, or a related environment strongly preferred. Experience managing an Assisted Living and/or Memory Care community preferred. Strong knowledge of senior living operations, resident care, regulatory compliance, and state licensing requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold teams accountable. Strong understanding of staffing, scheduling, labor management, and employee retention. Ability to understand and manage budgets, financial statements, revenue, expenses, and operational performance. Strong sales and census-development mindset with an understanding of the importance of occupancy and resident retention. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with residents, families, employees, referral partners, and ownership. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain organized in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer-service orientation and ability to effectively manage resident and family concerns. High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and confidentiality. Comfortable using senior living software, electronic health records, financial systems, Microsoft Office, and other business technology. Must meet all applicable background screening, training, continuing education, and regulatory requirements. Must be able to respond to community emergencies and operational needs outside of normal business hours when required. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, visible leader who takes ownership of the community's residents, employees, culture, census, compliance, and financial performance.
