Job Description
Studio Operations Director Firefinish Interiors Coconut Creek, FL Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $125,000 a year 15 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Qualifications Strategic management Team development Contracts Budgeting Process management Full Job Description About the Studio Firefinish Interiors is a South Florida-based full-service interior design studio led by founder and principal designer Rayana Schmitz. Known for a signature blend of elevated ease, sculptural form, and richly layered organic texture, the studio creates interiors that are sophisticated yet warm, artful yet effortlessly livable. From full-home renovations and bespoke furnishings to custom millwork and landscape-driven outdoor retreats, Firefinish designs spaces that feel collected, calm, and boldly understated — grounded in comfort, craftsmanship, and a refined editorial sensibility. Position Summary Firefinish Interiors is hiring a Studio Operations Director to lead the strategic and operational execution of the studio. This role sits between the Founder/Principal Designer and the broader team, taking full ownership of day-to-day studio operations so that design leadership can stay focused on creative direction and client relationships. The Studio Operations Director will oversee a team of 5+ across design, project management, and administrative functions. This is a business leadership role, not a design leadership role — built for someone who thrives on process, accountability, and running a creative business efficiently and profitably. The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, proactive, and process-driven: comfortable reviewing financial reports, improving workflows, managing people, implementing technology, and leading cross-functional initiatives. A key part of the role is identifying opportunities to use AI, automation, and technology to increase efficiency and reduce manual work across the studio. This is an operational leadership position, not an administrative support role — Firefinish is looking for an operator who can independently manage priorities, drive initiatives to completion, and translate the Principal Designer's vision into clear plans and execution. Key Responsibilities Team & Operations Leadership Serve as right hand to the Founder/Principal Designer, managing priorities, calendar, and follow-through on commitments, and translating strategic vision into clear execution plans Directly manage designers, project managers, and administrative staff, including performance feedback and professional development Run weekly studio meetings, track action items, and hold the team accountable to deadlines Serve as the primary point of accountability for project timelines, budgets, and deliverable quality across the studio's active project roster Build, own, and continually refine studio-wide systems and processes — project management software, documentation, file organization, SOPs, and QA checkpoints Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions as the studio grows Manage day-to-day studio operations, including supplies, showroom/library upkeep, and vendor accounts Financial & Business Operations Own project budgeting, forecasting, and profitability tracking across all active jobs in partnership with lead designers and the fractional CFO Manage studio invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly reconciliation with the bookkeeper/accountant Monitor studio KPIs — utilization, project margins, timeline adherence — and report regularly to the Founder Oversee procurement logistics, including purchase orders, vendor deposits, and freight/receiving coordination Manage vendor and trade partner relationships and purchasing workflows Oversee contracts, proposals, and client agreements in partnership with the Founder Client Experience Support client onboarding and communications to ensure a polished, consistent client experience from contract through installation People & Culture Establish and maintain HR functions: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and studio policies Champion studio culture and internal communication as the team scales What We're Looking For 5-10 years of experience in operations, project management, or studio/practice management, ideally within interior design, architecture, or another creative studio environment Proven experience managing teams of 5 or more Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis Confident, clear communicator who can manage up (to the Founder), across (to design leadership), and down (to the team) Exceptional organizational and process-building skills — someone who sees systems where others see chaos Experience with studio or project management software (e.g., Studio Designer, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) Familiarity with design-industry workflows — procurement, FF&E processes, project lifecycles — is a strong plus, though this is not a design-facing role A steady, calm operator's temperament that brings order to a creative environment without dampening it Resourceful, solutions-oriented approach to unexpected challenges Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and professionalism Genuine passion for the design industry and for delivering an exceptional client experience Compensation & Benefits Base salary commensurate with experience ($75K - $125K) PTO and vendor discounts On-site role based in
