Strategic Client Manager
BASIC FUNCTION
The Strategic Client Manager for Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd. will be responsible for maximizing the value of Carthage's client and shareholder relationships by identifying opportunities to expand business across the company's portfolio of services. This role serves as the primary commercial growth leader for clients and shareholders, working collaboratively with veterinary service, supply, nutrition, data analytics, records, research, and all other departments to ensure clients receive the full value of Carthage Veterinary Service's capabilities. While the primary focus of this role is expanding relationships with existing clients and shareholders, identifying and developing new business opportunities is encouraged, particularly when opportunities arise through the individual's existing relationships and network. Success will be measured by increasing revenue, customer engagement, service utilization, client retention, new client development, and developing long-term strategic partnerships. This role can be either remote or based at our corporate office in Carthage, IL
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute growth strategies for Carthage's largest existing clients and shareholders Serve as the commercial leader for assigned strategic accounts, ensuring customers benefit from the full suite of Carthage Veterinary Service's capabilities while coordinating internal resources around long-term customer success Build comprehensive account growth plans with measurable objectives Increase customer revenue while strengthening long-term relationships Coordinate resources across all CVS departments Ensure customers experience one coordinated organization rather than multiple independent departments Facilitate communication between technical teams and commercial leadership to deliver integrated customer solutions Build trusted relationships with producers, owners, and key decision-makers Anticipate customer needs and identify opportunities before competitors Conduct regular strategic business reviews with major accounts Develop annual account business plans including revenue goals, service utilization objectives, and strategic growth initiatives Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and long-term retention Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to transition newly acquired strategic customers into long-term growth plans Develop new client relationships and generate business opportunities that support the company's strategic growth. Communicate market intelligence and customer feedback to commercial leadership to ensure CVS products and services are competitively positioned Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations at industry conferences and meetings
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to see swine production operations from a systemic view and connect product and services broadly to opportunities that drive value for the customer is required. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 application, including Excel, Words, Teams, Dynamics 365, Copilot, and other relevant business tools is required.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of commercial swine industry sales, business development, or technical service experience AND Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Animal Science, Business or related field OR A combination of education and experience
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regional travel within the United States Midwest region Regular travel for client meetings, industry events, and company activities Strong organizational skills and communication skills Ability to interact with team members, producers, and industry allies in a professional manner Proven ability to demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, strong initiative, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk for extended periods of time
