Job Summary:
The Director of Operations provides high-level strategic vision, leadership, direction and operational support for the Central Region, Illinois Branches (East Peoria, Decatur, Ottawa), while driving disciplined execution of that vision across the locations. Operations focus is Service, Parts and Rental, and also includes assistance and interface with Sales functions and other business groups as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide Leadership and Direction by embracing the Company Vision, Mission and Values. Utilize Power BI dashboards, BI reports, and other available tools to analyze performance trends, identify gaps, and proactively manage operational and financial performance. Maintain a positive working relationship with Company leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of corporate & regional initiatives. Work closely with Regional VP to develop and execute regional and branch-level strategies and operating plans using available ERP data, and BI dashboard insights. Assist with developing and executing branch annual operating plans. Establish the branch organization and structure, including headcount, additions, replacement, reductions, changes, costs, etc. Communicate operational performance, KPI trends, and strategic updates regularly using BI dashboards and structured reporting tools. Hold branch and departmental managers accountable for annual operating budget achievement and return on sales. Monitor key performance indicators including revenue, AR aging, inventory turns, WIP over 30 days, labor utilization, effective labor rate, warranty recovery, and freight/transportation costs. Complete timely performance evaluations for direct reporting managers, and ensure managers do the same for their branches. Partner closely with Sales leadership to align operational capacity and execution with sales strategy, activity, and customer commitments. Support managers in personnel-related decisions including coaching, hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations, and development planning. Interface with customers, vendors, and factory representatives to maintain strong relationships, in coordination with Sales to ensure alignment. Assist and support customer opportunities that will grow the business. Promote safety at your branches and audit safety processes and procedures with them. Drive training and development programs for managers and technicians to meet HYMH requirements, leveraging performance data and skill gap analysis derived from available tools. Communicate information of interest with your managers and employees on a regular basis. Pursue ongoing professional development, particularly in data-driven leadership, operational excellence, and systems-based management. Other duties and projects as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
Proven leadership experience in multi-site operations, with accountability for financial and operational results. Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data into action through proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Primary core value is integrity with demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Managerial and leadership skills with ability to motivate others. Demonstrates a high level of energy, initiative, and enthusiasm for the role. Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to set clear expectations and hold others accountable for performance and results. Sound judgment and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proficient computer skills with a solid understanding of budgeting, financial management, and basic accounting principles. Working Conditions:
Employee is expected to work the basic work week that is required to accomplish the goals for the position. Travel to branches is required. This position is exempt from paid overtime and will often exceed 40 hours per week.
