Job Description

J. Blanton Plumbing is seeking an experienced Excavation Field Manager to oversee our growing Sewer & Drain excavation operations. This position will be responsible for managing approximately 5 excavation crews, overseeing active jobs, coordinating equipment, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. We're looking for a strong field leader who understands excavation, underground utilities, sewer work, and how to keep multiple crews and projects moving. This is an opportunity to take your field experience into a leadership role with a rapidly growing company. What You'll Do Manage and oversee approximately 5 excavation crews Coordinate daily crew assignments, job schedules, and project priorities Visit active jobsites to monitor progress, quality, safety, and productivity Ensure excavation and sewer projects are completed on schedule and according to company standards Coordinate equipment, trucks, materials, and resources across multiple crews Monitor equipment condition and ensure necessary maintenance and repairs are addressed Troubleshoot jobsite issues and provide solutions to keep projects moving Train, coach, and hold crew members accountable for performance and safety Work closely with project managers, operations leadership, and other departments Ensure crews follow OSHA and company safety procedures Maintain accurate job and equipment records Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, production, and profitability Assist with hiring and developing excavation team members as the department continues to grow Requirements 5+ years of excavation, sewer, underground utility, or related field experience Previous experience leading crews or managing excavation projects Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, underground sewer work, and jobsite safety Experience managing multiple crews or projects at the same time Strong equipment knowledge and experience coordinating heavy equipment Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to make decisions and solve problems in the field Ability to work outdoors and travel between jobsites Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience managing residential sewer or excavation projects Experience operating or supervising the use of excavators and other heavy equipment
