Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator Thrift at Woodland Crossing (TWC) is a nonprofit thrift store serving the Elkhart community. We strive to be a friendly, caring, and welcoming presence where everyone feels valued and respected. Through the generosity of our community, we give donated items a second life, promote responsible stewardship and care for God's creation, and raise funds to support the work of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), focusing on disaster relief, peacemaking, and community development locally and around the world. We are willing to train the right person who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers and computers, enjoys working with people, and is eager to learn. The Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator is a hands-on position that combines bookkeeping, administrative responsibilities, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our thrift store. We are looking for someone who can move comfortably between the office, sales floor, and warehouse, work independently when needed, be a strong part of the team, and take on increased responsibility as their knowledge and skills grow. Previous bookkeeping, retail, or thrift-store experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform bookkeeping duties and maintain accurate financial records. Assist with payroll and other financial and administrative responsibilities. Maintain confidentiality when working with financial, employee, and organizational information. Create and manage social media content and assist with basic marketing. Prepare and print pricing tags, signs, and other store materials. Learn to evaluate donated merchandise and develop a good general understanding of thrift-store pricing and value. Help maintain organization and efficient systems throughout the store, warehouse, and office. Provide excellent customer service and assist customers and donors as needed. Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers and help support a positive team environment. Participate in cross-training and learn different areas of store operations. Help maintain clean, neat, safe, and organized work areas. Assist with basic housekeeping duties as needed. Step into different areas of the store when additional help is needed. Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the store. Qualifications & Skills The right candidate should be: Dependable and trustworthy — follows through on responsibilities and handles sensitive information appropriately. Organized and detail-oriented — able to maintain accurate records and keep work areas and systems organized. Comfortable with numbers and computers — able and willing to learn our bookkeeping and store systems. Self-motivated — able to work independently, recognize what needs attention, and take appropriate initiative. A team player — willing to work alongside others and help wherever needed. Goal-oriented — able to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency when needed. Comfortable working with a wide variety of staff, volunteers, customers, and donors. Able to communicate effectively and speak and understand English. Spanish is a plus, but not required. Interested in learning about donated merchandise, its value, and appropriate thrift-store pricing. Willing to learn all areas of store operations and take on additional responsibilities over time. Willing to connect with and support the mission and values of Thrift at Woodland Crossing and MCC. Physical Requirements This is not a desk position. The Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator will work in the office, on the sales floor, and in the warehouse. The employee must be able to: Be on their feet throughout the workday. Bend, reach, and move merchandise as needed. Move products between containers, carts, shelving, and other store areas. Lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Perform repetitive tasks such as preparing tags and pricing merchandise when needed. Work comfortably in an active thrift-store and warehouse environment. Schedule & Hours This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on the availability, experience, and fit of the right candidate. We anticipate approximately 20-40 hours per week and are open to discussing a schedule that works well for both the employee and the needs of the store. Saturday availability is a must.
Compensation:
