Job Description
An independent service provider for FedEx Ground in the Evansville, Indiana area (including significant services areas in Kentucky) is seeking a highly motivated Business Contact/Operations Manager of record ("BC") to oversee the daily operations of a FedEx Ground Pickup & Delivery operation. The BC role will serve as the primary operational leader responsible for recruiting, driver management, safety, service performance, route execution, fleet oversight, routing and compliance with FedEx standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, and is committed to building a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
Operations Management- Oversee daily pickup and delivery operations to ensure service goals are achieved
- Manage route planning, dispatch, and daily execution
- Monitor service levels, scan compliance, customer service metrics, and operational performance
- Coordinate weekly driver scheduling to minimize overtime and turnover.
- Ensure all routes are properly staffed and vehicles are operational each day
- Coordinate contingency plans for call-outs, vehicle breakdowns, and service disruptions Leadership & Driver Management
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop drivers
- Conduct ride-alongs, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions
- Manage driver schedules, attendance, and productivity
- Address employee concerns and resolve operational issues promptly
- Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FedEx Ground policies and procedures
- Monitor driver safety performance and conduct safety meetings
- Oversee accident investigations and corrective action plans
- Maintain DOT compliance and required documentation
- Ensure all vehicles meet company and regulatory standards Fleet Oversight
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
- Monitor vehicle condition and repair needs
- Work closely with mechanics and vendors to minimize downtime
- Maintain fleet records and compliance documentation Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with budgeting and cost control initiatives
- Monitor payroll, overtime, fuel usage, and operational expenses
- Review operational reports and identify opportunities for improvement
- Volume growth and territory expansion initiatives Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous management or supervisory experience required
- Logistics, transportation, delivery, or FedEx Ground experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple employees and priorities simultaneously
- Proficient with computers, reporting systems, and operational software
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Preferred Experience

- Ground Cloud, DRO, FRO or similar routing software Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak seasons
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds unassisted and 150 pounds with assistance Compensation & Benefits
