Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Operations to lead the startup and growth of a new manufacturing facility in Indianapolis. This role will have overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Capacity, and Customer Commitments. The Senior Director will lead manufacturing operations across assembly, fabrication/welding, machining, polishing, finishing, and warehouse operations, while directly managing the Production Manager and other site leaders. Key Responsibilities Lead facility startup, equipment installation, staffing, training, production ramp-up, and ongoing operations. Develop and execute production, capacity, labor, and material plans to meet customer commitments. Lead and develop managers, supervisors, and manufacturing teams. Establish daily operating systems, KPIs, performance dashboards, and accountability routines. Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, throughput, cost, and on-time delivery. Partner with Engineering, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, HR, Finance, and other functions to resolve operational issues. Identify production constraints and develop recovery plans to protect customer commitments. Manage operating budgets, labor plans, capital investments, and cost-reduction initiatives. Drive Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, standard work, and structured problem solving. Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and excellence. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field. 10+ years of progressive manufacturing/operations experience. Proven experience leading managers and multi-level manufacturing teams. Experience launching, expanding, or improving a manufacturing operation. Strong background in metal fabrication, welding, assembly, machining, or engineered manufacturing. Experience with production planning, capacity management, ERP systems, and operational KPIs. Strong Lean/continuous improvement and problem-solving experience. Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central and/or Power BI is a plus. Strong communication, leadership, financial, and decision-making skills. Working Conditions Fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular production-floor presence. Exposure to noise, equipment, fabrication processes, and varying temperatures. Occasional travel of up to 25% may be required. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operations leader to build and scale a manufacturing facility from the ground up.
Pay:
$175,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
