About Westfall Electric Westfall Electric is a licensed, bonded, and insured electrical contractor based in Mulvane, Kansas, serving Wichita and communities across South Central Kansas. The team handles residential, commercial, and industrial work, including troubleshooting and repairs, panel upgrades, lighting, trenching, new construction wiring, and emergency service. Westfall is also a Generac-certified dealer for generator sales, service, and installation. About the Role Westfall Electric is hiring an Operations Manager to own the daily execution of every job, from scheduling and material readiness through completion and payment. If a crew shows up unprepared, a job slips its schedule, or something falls through the cracks, that's on you to catch and fix. Get this right, and Rusty and Kurt get their time back to focus on sales and growing the business instead of running logistics. You'll be the single point of ownership for dispatch, materials, scheduling, and field team accountability. You'll report directly to the Owners and work closely with the office team and field lead to keep every job moving from first contact to final payment.
Key Responsibilities Daily Operations:
Dispatch, Materials & Scheduling Own morning dispatch, making sure crews know where they're going and have what they need before they leave Make sure Electricians have trucks loaded and ready so guys can grab materials and go, rather than waiting or making return trips Order materials ahead of each job, including special-order or one-off parts, to avoid emergency runs for materials Maintain a working inventory approach that balances having what's needed on hand against tying up cash in slow-moving stock Track and follow up on material returns and vendor credits Own the shared job calendar as the single source of truth, eliminating double-bookings and scheduling conflicts Coordinate scheduling across generator installs, service calls, and regular electrical work Field Team Accountability & KPI Reporting Every job follows its checklist and SOPs start to finish, including the generator install and field escalation processes Electricians work through the self-check/escalation checklist before calling the Owners, so the Owners only hear about issues that truly need them The Owners have clear team performance data to base promotion, coaching, and pay decisions on Full Job Pipeline Ownership Every job moves through the full process without stalling, regardless of lead source: consultation → sale confirmed → financing/payment method → scheduling → permits and utility locates → installation → inspection → payment collected on-site → customer walkthrough → warranty applied → future service scheduled Financing paperwork and collections follow-up are handed off to the office team where appropriate, and you always know where every job stands Financial Visibility (Growing Responsibility) Begin tracking job profitability, cost of goods sold and estimate-to-actual cost per job, to give Rusty and Kurt a clear monthly picture of what's working. Marketing & Website Oversight Manage the relationship with the website vendor and keep the site and social content current Review and edit AI-generated social posts from field photos before they go live
Desired Outcomes:
First 90 Days Fully own daily dispatch, material ordering, and the job calendar, with the Owners stepping back each week Log a baseline for emergency material runs in week 1 and have a proactive ordering process in place Job checklists and SOPs are in consistent use, with completion tracked on every job First monthly job-profitability report (COGS + estimate-to-actual) delivered to the Owners Escalation checklist in place as the required first step before any field call to the Owners Baseline and target for generator install turnaround set from current job data Working relationships established with the team, with clear lines of who owns what Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Owner hours freed: The Owners spend 3 hours/week or less combined on dispatch, materials, and scheduling, down from about 10 hours/week today Emergency material runs: 50% fewer one-off/emergency runs than the week 1 baseline Checklist/SOP completion: 100% of completed jobs have a fully documented, signed-off checklist Job profitability reporting: Monthly job-profitability report delivered on time every month Field escalations: 3 or fewer direct field-to-owner escalation calls per week Generator install turnaround: Average days from sale to completed install at or below the target set in the first 90 days What You Bring A background in electrical, construction, or a related trade, and/or 2 to 3 years of operations experience in a contracting or service business Organized and decisive, and comfortable making judgment calls without checking in on every detail Makes decisions based on data, not emotion A strong communicator who can hold both field and office staff accountable Comfortable with basic financial tracking, such as job costing, budgets, and vendor invoices Working Style This is a fast-paced, hands-on role inside a small, owner-run electrical contracting business. The right person is proactive, takes ownership without needing to be micromanaged, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats as the business scales. In-office presence in the Wichita area is preferred. Reporting Structure This role reports directly to Rusty and Kurt, co-owners of Westfall Electric. The field lead and office staff work closely with the Operations Manager, and day-to-day coordination flows through this role.
Compensation Base salary:
$60,000 to $80,000, depending on experience
Bonus:
Performance-based, tied to the 90-day and ongoing KPIs above
