Full-Time Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating BlueOak Outdoor's daily field operations and ensuring that lawn care, landscaping, tree services, seasonal cleanups, snow and ice management, and related outdoor projects are completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and to company quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Operations Manager must be able to organize crews, communicate clear instructions, inspect completed work, address jobsite issues, and assist in the field when needed. The successful candidate will remain professional under pressure, adapt to changing schedules and priorities, and treat employees, customers, vendors, and company leadership with respect. Primary ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations and Scheduling Coordinate daily crew assignments, job schedules, equipment, materials, and transportation. Review each job's scope, labor allowance, customer expectations, and completion deadline before dispatching crews. Conduct morning crew huddles and communicate daily priorities clearly. Adjust schedules for weather, employee absences, equipment problems, customer requests, and other operational changes. Confirm crews have the correct tools, materials, instructions, and property information before leaving the shop. Keep management informed of delays, jobsite problems, customer concerns, and schedule changes. Crew Leadership Supervise crew leaders and field employees across lawn maintenance, landscaping, tree work, cleanups, snow removal, and other services. Set clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, safety, and professional conduct. Train and coach employees on company procedures, equipment operation, jobsite expectations, and customer service. Monitor employee timekeeping, breaks, overtime, and job hours for accuracy. Help resolve employee concerns professionally and promptly. Recommend coaching, disciplinary action, promotions, or staffing changes to senior management. Maintain a respectful work environment and model calm, professional behavior. Quality Control and Customer Service Inspect active and completed jobs to verify that the approved scope of work has been followed. Confirm that properties are clean, safe, and presentable before crews leave. Document job progress, completed work, changes, damages, and customer concerns with notes and photographs. Communicate professionally with customers regarding scheduling and field operations. Escalate pricing changes, contract changes, refunds, credits, and significant customer complaints to authorized management. Coordinate prompt correction of legitimate quality issues. Job Planning and Financial Performance Review labor and material requirements before work begins. Track estimated hours against actual crew hours and identify jobs exceeding budget. Prevent unauthorized additional work or scope changes. Obtain management approval before committing the company to additional labor, materials, discounts, credits, or subcontractor expenses. Assist with field measurements, material lists, production planning, and operational input for estimates. Submit complete job information so customer invoices can be prepared accurately and promptly. Help reduce wasted labor, unnecessary travel, material loss, callbacks, and equipment downtime. Equipment and Inventory Ensure trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment are inspected and ready for daily use. Coordinate routine maintenance and promptly report repair needs. Maintain accurate equipment, key, fuel, and inventory records. Ensure crews properly load, secure, operate, clean, and store company equipment. Monitor material levels and request supplies before shortages affect scheduled work. Report accidents, damage, theft, and missing equipment immediately. Safety and Compliance Conduct and document regular safety meetings and jobsite safety checks. Enforce the use of required personal protective equipment. Ensure that only trained and authorized employees operate vehicles, machinery, chainsaws, pesticide equipment, and other specialized tools. Confirm that tree-climbing, chemical-application, and other regulated work is performed only by properly qualified personnel. Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions exist. Report all injuries, vehicle accidents, property damage, chemical spills, and near misses promptly. Follow company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements. Seasonal Responsibilities Help plan staffing, equipment, routes, materials, and subcontractors for peak seasons. Coordinate fall cleanups, leaf removal, aeration and overseeding, holiday-light installation, and other seasonal services. Assist with snow and ice response planning, crew communication, storm monitoring, documentation, and quality control. Be available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and emergency weather events when operationally necessary. Authority and Limitations The Operations Manager may assign crews, adjust daily routes, inspect work, enforce safety requirements, and make reasonable field decisions within approved company policies and job budgets. The Operations Manager may not independently change employee compensation, hire or terminate employees, sign contracts, alter customer pricing, approve refunds or credits, purchase major equipment, or commit BlueOak Outdoor to unapproved expenses without authorization from senior management. Qualifications At least three years of experience in landscaping, lawn care, construction, property maintenance, tree services, snow management, or a related field. At least two years of crew leadership or operations-management experience preferred. Working knowledge of production scheduling, job costing, crew management, equipment, materials, and jobsite safety. Ability to read estimates, work orders, property plans, maps, and written scopes of work. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-management skills. Ability to use scheduling, timekeeping, CRM, email, text-messaging, and mobile applications. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Bilingual English/Spanish communication is helpful but not required. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, dust, and other changing conditions. Ability to walk uneven terrain, bend, climb, stand for extended periods, and safely lift approximately 50 pounds. Ability to drive between the office, jobsites, vendors, and customer properties. Availability for extended or irregular hours during peak seasons and snow or ice events. Ability to assist crews with physical fieldwork when necessary.
