Job Description

Job Overview The Director of Operations manages the operational frameworks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and fiscal metrics of the fitness facility. They lead department heads—including sales, fitness/personal training, front desk, and maintenance teams—to ensure seamless facility performance, brand compliance, and maximum member retention. The ultimate objective is to drive revenue growth while maintaining premium service and an immaculate, safe club environment.
Core Responsibilities Strategic & Financial Leadership:
Partner with executive leadership to formulate annual budgets, control labor and operational costs, and execute strategies to maximize profit margins and membership Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Team Building & Management:
Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor department managers. Conduct regular performance reviews and build a culture of servant leadership and internal career growth.
Facility & Asset Preservation:
Oversee vendor relations, facility maintenance, and third-party contractors. Ensure equipment uptime, technology systems integration, and strict adherence to local health and OSHA safety regulations.
Member Experience & Brand Standards:
Establish high standards for hospitality and customer service. Respond to escalated member feedback and proactively build community relationships to boost brand advocacy.
Cross-Department Synergy:
Align sales campaigns, group fitness programming, personal training initiatives, and retail inventory management to build cohesive operations. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Membership growth and monthly attrition/retention rates. Total revenue vs. operating budget yield (Personal Training sales, retail, ancillary billing). Payroll efficiency and resource utilization ratios. Club audit scores (cleanliness, brand standard compliance, safety benchmarks). Job Requirements & Qualifications Criteria Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or a related field (preferred). Experience 3-5+ years of operations management experience, ideally overseeing multi-unit or high-volume fitness, retail, or hospitality venues. Technical Skills Proficiency with club management databases (e.g., ABC Fitness, Mindbody), MS Office Suite, and basic knowledge of fitness equipment technical mechanics. Certifications CPR/AED certification required; Certified Fitness Trainer or Facility Management certifications are highly preferred.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
