Job Description
Back Shift Supervisor @ Teche Energy Job Description The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing plant operations during the assigned shift, ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, production quality, and accurate documentation. This role provides leadership to operations personnel and ensures all operational checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and reporting requirements are completed. Employees are not limited to the following key roles and responsibilities and may be asked to perform additional duties. Key Roles and Responsibilities Follow all site Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures at all times. Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and ensure it is maintained in good condition. Identify and immediately report safety hazards, near miss events, environmental concerns, and unsafe conditions to supervision. Lead effective shift change meetings with the oncoming supervisor, ensuring clear communication of priorities, issues, and operational status. Ensure the control room accurately document all shift events, including operational changes, alarms, downtime, and abnormal conditions. Verify completion and accuracy of all required readings and inspections recorded in the logbook. Ensure shift roles (pellet operator, loader operators, wash area operators, etc.) and truck drivers are performing their duties in accordance with expectations and safety standards. Submit all completed paperwork to the designated end of shift location in the control room. Prepare and distribute accurate shift reports, summarizing production activities, downtime, safety issues, and key operational data. Ensure all Preventative Maintenance (PM) for mobile equipment are being completed and turned in at the start of each shift. Maintains full authority over operational decisions for the shift to ensure safe and reliable achievement of shift targets and orders. Manages response to safety and environmental incidents following established protocols Writes to shift log and documents critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the shift. Ensures all equipment deficiencies are reported via the Work Request system. Ensure operators conduct routine tasks such as JHAs, Rounds, and equipment inspection per procedure and coaches to close gaps. Provide operational oversight and coaching to maintain continued operation. Personally check critical operating parameters and provide direction to correct, as needed. Participate in safety meetings, training, and required certifications to stay current with compliance requirements. Knows and ensures proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of materials, including chemicals or waste products, to prevent environmental impact are followed. How to
