Who We Are American Dedicated Rail Services is a Jacksonville, Florida based railroad services company founded in 2020 to provide the industry with a customer-centric approach to railroading. We are seeking an Assistant Manager. Extensive Railroad and Railroad Management Experience Required . This is a non-FRA site and prospective candidate does not have to be FRA certified. Job Summary The Assistant Manager is responsible for aiding the Operations Manager in overseeing the operation and its staff to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable train movement and related activities. This role involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, and implementing operational strategies to improve performance and customer satisfaction. Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management and coordination of all aspects of railroad operations. Including switching, car repair, track repair, etc
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to railroad operations
  • Help develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, safety, and customer service
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of railroad equipment and infrastructure
  • Lead, train, and develop a team of operations staff. Including Conductors, Engineers, Carman, Clerks, etc
  • Collaborate with the executive team to optimize asset utilization and cost control
  • Respond to emergencies and operational disruptions, implementing contingency plans as necessary
  • Conduct regular safety audits and reviews to maintain high safety standards
  • Help prepare and manage the operations budget, seeking ways to reduce costs without compromising service quality
  • Maintain open communication with customers, addressing concerns and fostering positive relationships
  • Any other duties as assigned Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-5 yrs years of experience in railroad operations management
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient in the use of computer operations, especially regarding Microsoft products
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Knowledge of railroad industry standards and regulations
  • Occasional physical labor as needed Physical Requirements Be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs Stand, walk, and balance for long periods Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing Effective use of hands and arms Good vision, hearing, and communication abilities Work in intense heat and other environmental conditions Wear safety gear like protective boots and glasses Safety Notice Safety is of the utmost importance within our company.
All work performed at our operations is taken with maximum consideration for safety and any work performed that is considered to not adhere to our high safety standards can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Preemployment tests and procedures gauge one's ability to adhere to our safety requirements and may be required as part of our hiring and/or qualifications screening. Drug Testing Notice ADRS is a drug-free workplace and will take the appropriate actions necessary to ensure as such. Employees are subject to a preemployment 10 panel rapid non-dot drug test and are also subject to any future drug tests up to the companies' discretion.
