Job Description

Location:
Pontiac, MI Ferrous Processing and Trading, a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, has an immediate opportunity fora Supervisor at our Pontiac, MI operation. The Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the scale house and metal processing areas within the yard. This role ensures accurate material transactions, safe and efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and effective supervision of scale house and metal shop employees. The Supervisor serves as a key leader in maintaining productivity, customer service, and operational excellence.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Supervise daily scale house and metal shop operations.

Lead, train, schedule, and support employees while maintaining accountability and performance standards.

Ensure accurate weighing, documentation, and processing of inbound and outbound materials.

Coordinate activities between scale operators, yard personnel, equipment operators, and customers.

Monitor scrap receiving, sorting, grading, and shipment activities to maximize efficiency.

Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.

Resolve operational and customer service issues related to material transactions and processing.

Maintain accurate records, inventory controls, and operational reports.

Conduct workplace inspections and support equipment maintenance efforts.

Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Assist management with process improvements and achieving operational goals.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.

Three (3) years of experience in scrap recycling, metal processing, manufacturing, logistics, or a related industrial environment.

One (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.

Working knowledge of scale house operations, scrap metal grading, and yard operations preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with computer systems, scale software, and Microsoft Office.

Valid driver's license.

Ability to work in an outdoor industrial environment and perform occasional physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
