Job Description

Corrigan Air & Sea Cargo is looking for an experienced Import/Export Operations Supervisor to lead complex international shipments involving oversized, heavy, high-value, and specialized cargo. This is a hands-on leadership role with ownership of shipments from planning through final delivery. You will coordinate with customers, carriers, ports, customs brokers, trucking companies, crane and rigging contractors, and internal teams to ensure every project is completed safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate is an experienced logistics professional who enjoys solving complex transportation challenges, leading a team, and keeping high-priority projects moving. What You'll Do
  • Supervise import, export, and project cargo operations from origin through final delivery.
  • Plan transportation for oversized, overweight, heavy-lift, breakbulk, RoRo, flat-rack, open-top, and specialized cargo.
  • Coordinate ocean, air, rail, heavy-haul trucking, specialized trailers, cranes, rigging, escorts, and permits.
  • Manage port, terminal, warehouse, staging, loading, unloading, transloading, and delivery activities.
  • Review cargo dimensions, weights, lifting requirements, packaging, routing, and site-access needs.
  • Coordinate route surveys, oversized/overweight permits, and required government approvals.
  • Work with carriers, vessel operators, freight forwarders, customs brokers, ports, terminals, and logistics providers.
  • Review shipping and customs documents for accuracy and timely completion.
  • Monitor customs clearance and help resolve documentation, classification, or regulatory issues.
  • Track shipments, communicate status updates, and proactively address delays or operational risks.
  • Review freight quotes, negotiate vendor costs, monitor budgets, and control demurrage, detention, storage, and accessorial charges.
  • Supervise, train, and support import/export and project logistics team members.
  • Maintain project records, reports, shipment schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Develop procedures and identify opportunities to improve safety, service, cost, and efficiency. Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in international logistics, import/export operations, project logistics, freight forwarding, or specialized transportation.
  • Supervisory, team-lead, or project-management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight, ports, customs brokerage, international shipping, and multimodal transportation.
  • Experience with oversized/overweight cargo, heavy haul, breakbulk, RoRo, or heavy-lift shipments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, bills of lading, customs documentation, and international trade requirements.
  • Ability to interpret cargo dimensions, weights, packing specifications, lifting plans, and transportation requirements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, transportation, or related field.
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing, automotive, construction, energy, or heavy-equipment projects.
  • Knowledge of
CTPAT, ACE, AES, HTS
classification, and U.S. Customs requirements.
  • Experience with ERP, TMS, WMS, or freight-forwarding systems.
  • Customs, logistics, or international trade certification. What Success Looks Like
