Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a utility contractor focused primarily on fiber construction seeking an experienced Fiber Operations Manager to join our growing team. This is a well-rounded leadership role for a seasoned professional with deep roots in the fiber industry. You will oversee day-to- day field operations, manage multiple crews and subcontractors, and serve as the point of contact for permitting, purchasing, and project coordination across our regional footprint.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage multiple concurrent underground, aerial, and splicing construction projects from start to finish Oversee and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring quality, schedule, and safety compliance Lead permitting efforts including right-of-way, municipal, and utility coordination Handle purchasing, material procurement, and vendor relationships Track project budgets, schedules, and production reporting Conduct field inspections and enforce workmanship standards Communicate progress and issues to ownership and clients on a regular basis Support estimating, bidding, and pre-construction planning as neededQUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of hands-on experience in fiber or telecom construction Proven experience managing underground directional boring, aerial strand, and fiber splicing operations Strong background in subcontractor management and field supervision Working knowledge of permitting processes (ROW, state/municipal, utility locates) Experience with purchasing, material take-offs, and supply coordination Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber route maps, and specifications Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Valid driver's license; reliable transportation requiredPREFERRED SKILLS
Experience working with telecom clients, ISPs, or municipal broadband projects Familiarity with OSHA standards and utility construction safety practices Proficiency with project management tools or field reporting software BICSI, OSHA
