Job Description

•This position is fully onsite to start, potential for hybrid arrangement as time goes on. No sponsorship available. No relocation assistance is available, you must be able to commute to Waconia office. 1Micro in Waconia, MN is a fast-growing tech company that manufactures and manages key security devices and inventory systems for car dealerships, commercial companies, fleet departments, and multifamily properties. For over 30 years, we have provided innovative solutions for some of the common problems within the automotive industry, and we continue to push the boundaries of technology to better serve our customers. Due to our rapid growth and current development projects with multiple Fortune 500 companies, we are looking for a team-focused, driven, and friendly Systems Operations Administrator to join our team! Primary Responsibilities Systems Operations Server administration (Linux primary): Install, configure, harden, patch, and maintain Linux server systems, including package management, systemd services, storage and filesystems, and shell environments.

Windows Server administration:

Support Windows Server systems as part of the broader server environment.

Monitoring and incident response:

Operate monitoring, alerting, and logging tools; investigate and resolve incidents; conduct post-incident reviews and drive follow-up actions. Backup, recovery, and continuity: Design, execute, and periodically test backup and disaster-recovery procedures; verify recoverability and maintain runbooks.

Patch and vulnerability management:

Track, test, and deploy operating system and application updates on a defined cadence; remediate identified vulnerabilities.

Identity and access management:

Administer directory services, user provisioning and deprovisioning, group policy, and access reviews; enforce least-privilege access.

Endpoint management:

Administer endpoint protection, disk encryption, and configuration baselines across the workstation fleet.

Security hardening:

Apply and maintain hardening baselines; support audit and compliance activities; assist with security incident response.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate system inventories, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and runbooks.

Escalation support:

Serve as an escalation point for complex system, access, and infrastructure issues.

SaaS Account Administration Tenant administration:

Administer business SaaS tenants and other line-of-business SaaS applications.

User lifecycle:

Manage account provisioning, deprovisioning, group membership, and role assignments in coordination with HR and hiring managers. SSO, MFA, and conditional access: Configure and maintain single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and access policies across integrated applications.

License management:

Track SaaS licenses and utilization; support renewals, right-sizing, and vendor coordination.

Data governance settings:

Configure sharing, retention, DLP, and audit settings within SaaS platforms consistent with company policy.

Local Network Administration Network infrastructure:

Administer LAN and wireless infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and access points.

Segmentation and access:

Configure and maintain VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, DNS, and firewall rules.

Performance and reliability:

Monitor network performance and availability; troubleshoot connectivity issues; coordinate with ISPs and vendors on outages.

Network documentation:

Maintain up-to-date topology diagrams, IP address plans, and network configuration records. Automation and Software Engineering Scripting and automation: Automate routine administration and reporting tasks using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

Infrastructure-as-code:

Contribute to infrastructure-as-code efforts using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.

Source control:

Use Git and code review workflows for configuration, scripts, and documentation.

CI/CD support:

Support build and deployment pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) as part of the wider engineering toolchain.

Containerization:

Support containerized workloads (Docker, and optionally Kubernetes) as they are adopted. Hours and Benefits Full-time, up to 40 hours per week.

Monday-Friday:

8am-5pm or 1Micro offers a flexible schedule between 7:00am to 9:00am. Willingness to work after-hours and/or weekend rotation on-call for maintenance windows and incident response. This position is fully onsite to start, with potential for a hybrid arrangement as time goes on.

Compensation:

$33.65 - $43.27/hour, depending on experience.

Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k and Paid Time Off (PTO). Requirements/Qualifications Onsite position in Waconia, MN - Must be local to the area, no relocation assistance available. Eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship. Minimum 2 years of hands-on systems administration experience; additional experience strongly preferred. Strong hands-on experience administering Linux servers (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, or equivalent), including package management, systemd, file systems, networking, and shell environments. Working knowledge of Windows Server for supporting mixed-environment infrastructure. Ability to support desktop endpoints across macOS, Windows, and Linux Experience administering at least one major SaaS suite (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or comparable).

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals:

TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall rules. Scripting proficiency in Bash or Python; PowerShell familiarity. Experience with backup, recovery, and monitoring tools. Strong troubleshooting skills and a habit of clear technical documentation. Effective written and verbal communication; able to explain technical topics to non-technical staff. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef). Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps) Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP). Container experience (Docker) and awareness of orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with observability tooling (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, or similar). Familiarity with security frameworks and controls (e.g., CIS Benchmarks, NIST CSF). Relevant certifications a plus, such as Linux Foundation LFCS/LFCE, RHCSA/RHCE, CompTIA Linux+/Network+/Security+, Microsoft 365

Certified:

Administrator, Cisco CCNA, or entry-level AWS/Azure certifications. Software Engineering experience.

Pay:
