Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, plus... Administrators of NC Pre‐K sites must have either: (1) A NC Principal License, or (2) A North Carolina Early Childhood Administrator Credential (NCECAC) Level III.

Special Skills:

At least 21 years of age, two years of verifiable childcare experience, good communication and teamwork skills, current First Aid and CPR Certification, and evidence of emotional maturity/stability.

State Requirements:

Approved criminal record, fingerprints, medical records, current physical examination within the last year, negative tuberculin test, and drug free.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The director is responsible for: Hiring qualified staff; overseeing new staff orientation Supervising and evaluating all staff Maintaining a physical environment that conforms to NC licensing standards of safety and cleanliness, that is conductive to optimal growth and development of children who attend the center. Seeing that the facility conforms to NC licensing standards with regards to the physical safety and well-being of the children and staff. Developing and executing an on-going program of activities that contribute to the care, growth, and development of the children. Supervising the requisition and keeping an updated inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to effectively carry out a program of activities. Enrolling children, establishing fees to be collected, collecting fees, and maintaining payroll. Scheduling assignments of the personnel and overseeing the food preparation in accordance with licensing requirements. Planning and conducting regular staff meetings and keeping staff informed of licensing requirements. Planning in-service training of personnel that is related to job responsibilities. Supervising the record keeping of the center as per licensing requirements including staff, children, and business files. Developing operational and personnel policies and reviewing annually. Maintaining communication with parents, staff, and child care organizations as well as Social Services, Division of Child Development, and other regulatory agencies, and reporting verbally and in writing to regulatory agencies. Overseeing the NC Pre-K Program and Staff, including maintaining attendance records and submitting monthly forms to Smart Start for funding reimbursement. Working with Smart Start Staff to meet site standards and to ensure program is eligible for renewal each year. These duties and responsibilities are instrumental to maintaining our operating license as a child care facility. The hours for this position can range from 25 hours per week up to 40, depending on the current needs of the facility. The director is subject to immediate termination if found to be negligent in the fulfillment of these center and state requirements.
