Senior Operations Manager -
Transportation & Logistics Location:
Hopewell Junction, NY Additional Operations:
Swedesboro, NJ and Glen Burnie, MD Employment:
Full-Time | Direct Hire |
On-Site Schedule:
Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with flexibility for after-hours, overnight-route and occasional Saturday requirements
Travel:
Approximately 50%, including regular overnight travel

Available/considered based on company terms Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead a complex, multi-site transportation and logistics network supporting three major automotive customers across the Northeast. The role will oversee operations in Hopewell Junction, NY; Swedesboro, NJ; and Glen Burnie, MD, with responsibility for approximately 200 employees, including 3 Operations Managers, 152 drivers, 26 dock associates and 22 administrative/leadership employees. The operation supports Stellantis/FCA, DTNA and Toyota and operates as a high-touch, multi-stop final-mile/dedicated LTL-type network serving dealerships across a broad Northeast territory. Key Responsibilities Operations Leadership Lead transportation operations across three geographically dispersed locations. Lead, coach and develop three Operations Managers. Oversee a large driver, dock and administrative workforce. Establish, communicate and enforce operating standards and accountability. Improve driver communication, engagement and behavioral accountability. Maintain strong operational visibility by visiting locations and understanding execution at the driver and dock level. Coordinate staffing, resources, equipment and transportation capacity. Ensure safe, efficient and compliant daily operations. Customer & Service Management Build and maintain strong relationships with key automotive customers and dealer networks. Serve as a senior point of contact for customer issues and escalations. Improve customer confidence and service performance, with particular focus on Stellantis/FCA. Lead service recovery and corrective-action efforts. Maintain strong relationships with DTNA and Toyota. Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, managers, peer locations and senior leadership. KPI & Performance Management Own key performance indicators including: On-time delivery Scanning compliance Service performance Driver execution Operational efficiency Establish reliable operating baselines and validate data integrity. Analyze performance trends and identify root causes. Develop and execute corrective-action and continuous-improvement roadmaps. Establish a culture of fact-based decision-making and accountability. Financial & P&L Management Own the operation's full P&L and overall financial performance. Manage budgets, forecasts and operating expenses. Monitor labor, transportation and brokerage costs. Identify opportunities to improve profitability without compromising customer service. Connect operational decisions, service performance, labor and brokerage spend to financial results. Network & Cross-Functional Leadership Work across multiple locations and operating teams to resolve shared-network issues. Influence teams and leaders outside the direct reporting structure. Coordinate with cross-functional partners to resolve service and operational challenges. Take ownership of customer recovery even when an issue originates outside the direct organization. Drive standardization and best practices across the network. People Leadership Develop a strong, cohesive leadership team across three locations. Coach managers and frontline leaders toward higher performance. Build employee engagement and accountability. Promote a culture centered on safety, integrity, communication and continuous improvement. Address performance issues and ensure consistent application of standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 7+ years of transportation/logistics leadership experience. Proven experience leading multi-site or geographically dispersed transportation operations. Experience managing a significant driver and frontline transportation workforce. Demonstrated experience leading managers and developing subordinate leaders. Meaningful experience with P&L, budgeting, forecasting and financial performance management. Strong experience managing operational KPIs and using data to identify root causes and improve performance. Proven customer-facing experience, including escalations and service recovery. Ability to influence and coordinate effectively across organizational boundaries. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish standards, enforce accountability and drive sustainable operational improvement. Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50%, including regular overnight travel. Preferred Qualifications Automotive transportation, automotive 3PL, automotive parts distribution or dedicated automotive logistics experience. Experience supporting OEMs or other demanding strategic customers. Experience operating within a customer facility. Multi-stop final-mile, LTL, dedicated transportation or time-critical transportation experience. Experience managing outer domiciles or geographically dispersed driver populations. Turnaround/stabilization experience. Lean Six Sigma or other continuous-improvement experience. Union-environment experience is beneficial but not required.
Pay:
$125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

Do you have experience leading managers/supervisors and managing a significant transportation workforce, while owning operational KPIs and driving performance improvement? Are you willing and able to travel approximately 50% of the time, including regular overnight travel, and work primarily on-site with occasional after-hours or Saturday requirements? Do you have meaningful experience with P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management for a transportation, logistics, or 3PL operation?
