ABOUT JRECK SUBS JRECK
Subs has been serving fresh, made-to-order submarine sandwiches since 1967, when our first location opened out of a converted school bus in Upstate New York. Today, Fresh Start Franchising, LLC operates a growing system of 24 locations across Upstate and Central New York, with an active growth plan to reach 40-50 locations. We are a community-rooted brand with a 59-year legacy, a proven franchise model, and a leadership team committed to franchisee success.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Franchise Support Manager (FSM) is a field-based role responsible for the operational health, brand compliance, and business performance of 10-12 JRECK Subs franchise locations within an assigned region (North or South). The FSM serves as the primary relationship between Fresh Start Franchising corporate and franchisees in their territory — functioning as coach, advisor, auditor, and brand ambassador. This is not a desk job. The FSM spends the majority of their time in the field — visiting stores, observing operations, coaching franchisees and their managers, and ensuring that every JRECK Subs location delivers the brand experience our guests expect. The FSM reports directly to the Director of Operations and is a critical member of the JRECK Subs corporate operations team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Operations & Store Visits
  • Conduct a minimum of 2 scheduled store visits per location per month, plus unannounced visits as needed
  • Complete standardized operational audits at every visit covering food quality, food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, guest experience, and brand standards
  • Identify operational gaps and develop written action plans with franchisees — follow up to confirm completion
  • Observe and coach in-store teams on proper food preparation, portion control, and service standards
  • Ensure all locations are operating in compliance with the JRECK Subs Operations Manual and Franchise Agreement Franchisee Coaching & Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for franchisees in your region — build trusted, productive relationships
  • Conduct monthly business review calls with each franchisee covering sales performance, food cost, labor cost, and key operational metrics
  • Proactively identify franchisees who are struggling and develop targeted support plans before issues escalate
  • Communicate corporate initiatives, menu updates, promotional programs, and policy changes to franchisees in your region
  • Facilitate resolution of franchisee concerns and escalate to the Director of Operations when appropriate Training & Development
  • Support new franchisee onboarding — assist with pre-opening store setup, staff training, and grand opening execution
  • Monitor manager tenure in your region — notify corporate within 48 hours of any manager departure
  • Coordinate replacement manager training with the Director of Operations when a manager vacancy occurs
  • Identify training gaps in existing locations and coordinate remedial training support
  • Serve as a resource for franchisees on the JRECK Subs Operations Manual, POS system, and US Foods ordering platform Performance & Compliance
  • Monitor weekly sales reports for all locations in your region — flag underperformance trends early
  • Track food cost and labor cost averages by location — coach franchisees toward system targets
  • Ensure all franchisees are submitting required financial reports by the 15th of each month
  • Document all store visits, action plans, and franchisee communications in the corporate tracking system
  • Escalate material compliance violations to the Director of Operations and VP of Operations promptly
  • Support the annual franchise agreement renewal process for locations in your region Brand Standards & Guest Experience
  • Ensure all locations maintain JRECK Subs brand standards for signage, uniforms, cleanliness, and presentation
  • Monitor guest feedback and online reviews for locations in your region — share insights with franchisees
  • Support grand opening marketing execution for new locations in your region
  • Ensure franchisees are participating in required advertising contribution programs (2.
5% of Gross Sales)
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Multi-unit restaurant or retail management experience (QSR experience strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence without direct authority — franchisees are independent business owners
  • Strong coaching and communication skills — comfortable delivering both positive feedback and difficult messages
  • Solid understanding of restaurant P&L, food cost, and labor cost management
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic financial reporting
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle — this role requires significant regional travel
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends as store visit needs require
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic reporting tools Preferred
  • Prior experience in a franchise system — as a franchisee, franchise employee, or franchisor field staff
  • Experience with US Foods ordering platform
  • Familiarity with franchise agreement compliance and FDD requirements
  • Experience managing 8-15 locations in a field operations or district manager capacity
  • Background in QSR brands (Subway, Dunkin', Jersey Mike's, Firehouse Subs, or similar)
WHAT A GREAT WEEK LOOKS LIKE A
high-performing Franchise Support Manager structures their week around field presence and franchisee impact:
    Monday:
    Weekly sales review for all 8-10 locations — flag any underperformance, prep talking points for the week
      Tuesday-Thursday:
      2-3 store visits per day — audit, coach, document, follow up on prior action items
        Friday:
        Monthly business review calls with 2-3 franchisees — review P&L, food cost, labor, upcoming needs
          Weekly:
          Submit field visit reports and regional performance summary to Director of Operations
            Ongoing:
            Respond to franchisee calls/texts within 4 business hours — you are their lifeline to corporate
            COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
            Base Salary:
            $60,000 - $70,000 (commensurate with experience)
            Performance Bonus:
            5-10% of base salary, paid annually based on regional
            KPIs Mileage Reimbursement:
            IRS standard rate (currently $0.76/mile)
