Job Description

South River Winery is looking for a friendly, motivated, and hospitality-driven Tasting Room Manager to lead our tasting room team and create exceptional guest experiences every day. This hands-on leadership role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, coaching a team, driving sales, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. From wine tastings and Wine Club memberships to weddings, festivals, and seasonal events, you'll help ensure every guest leaves with a lasting impression. We are seeking a creative self-starter who has the passion and drive to oversee the many facets of our Tasting Room. Candidates must be professional, articulate, hard-working, strong leaders who can handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and with a strong logistical and sales sense. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for and oversee day-to-day operations in the Tasting Room. The position requires an outgoing, well organized, self-motivated, always seeking high standards in quality and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer's experience and able to manage a team. Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of hospitality, retail, winery, or restaurant management experience.
  • Previous leadership and team management experience helpful.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and achieve sales goals.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with POS systems & inventory management.
  • Wine knowledge or a willingness to develop expertise through ongoing education.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and during peak tourism seasons.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs and move supplies or equipment as needed. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all guests are greeted immediately upon entry to the tasting room and provided with experiences that will build brand loyalty
  • Communicate in a knowledgeable, professional and gracious manner to all guests
  • Maintain the tasting room's physical setting to reinforce standards of the brand by ensuring that displays of wine products are attractive and well-maintained
  • ID guests to ensure each is of legal age to consume alcohol
  • Serve samples of wine for guests in both individual and group settings
  • Share appropriate information and educate guests about our wines, brand history
  • Promote the sale of wine products in the tasting room; pursue sales opportunities and encourage customers to buy wines for carryout.
  • Accurately use POS registers and other office systems to transact sales and maintain tasting room inventory
  • Accurately complete end of day reports, reconcile daily sales and post transactions
  • Demonstrate personal accountability in following all company policies and procedures
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, which includes but is not limited to: setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and all items related to tasting room operations
  • Ensure cleanliness by performing various housekeeping duties
  • Maintain physical inventory of merchandise items and perform restocking of wine
  • Ensure the tasting menu is accurate and up-to-date
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to work events and execute special projects
  • Conduct off-site wine pouring Compensation/Schedule
  • Salary + tips: $30,000
  • 60,000
  • Based on experience, performance, background and education
  • 40 hours per week on average.
Weekends required.
