Job Description

Overview Position Summary The Golf Course Manager is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, and financial performance of a busy 18-hole public golf facility. This position oversees daily golf operations, customer service, staffing, golf shop operations, tournaments and events. The Golf Course Manager will coordinate with the food and beverage operations and facility maintenance to ensure an exceptional experience for guests while meeting revenue and operational goals. The Golf Course Manager serves as the face of the facility and is responsible for maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction, employee performance, safety, and course presentation. Operations Management Direct and oversee all daily golf course operations. Direct and oversee all golf simulator operations. Ensure efficient management of tee times, pace of play, and player experience. Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain course conditions and appearance. Monitor facility cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures. Staff Leadership Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise golf shop staff, outside services personnel, cart attendants, starters, marshals, and seasonal employees. Conduct employee performance evaluations. Foster a positive, professional, and customer-focused work environment. Ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations. Customer Service Maintain exceptional guest service standards. Respond professionally to customer concerns and resolve issues promptly. Build relationships with golfers, leagues, community groups, and local organizations. Promote a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all guests. Financial Management Assist in preparing and managing annual operating budgets. Monitor revenues, expenses, payroll, and inventory. Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to increase revenue and profitability. Oversee purchasing and inventory control for golf shop merchandise and operational supplies. Golf Shop & Merchandising Manage retail operations, product selection, inventory, pricing, and sales. Ensure accurate operation of point-of-sale and tee sheet systems. Evaluate merchandise trends and customer preferences. Tournaments, Outings & Events Coordinate and oversee golf tournaments, leagues, outings, and special events. Develop event packages and revenue-generating programs. Work closely with sponsors, organizers, and participants to ensure successful events. Marketing & Business Development Assist with marketing initiatives, promotions, and social media campaigns. Foster community relationships to increase rounds, memberships, and event bookings. Identify opportunities to improve customer retention and grow business. Safety & Compliance Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure safe operation of golf carts, equipment, and facilities. Enforce course rules and safety practices. Qualifications Required Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Experience managing budgets and financial performance. Proficiency with golf management software and point-of-sale systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Bachelor's degree in business administration, Hospitality Management, Recreation Management, or a related field. 3 to 5 years of management experience in golf, hospitality, recreation, or a related industry. PGA Membership or PGA Associate status. Experience managing public golf course operations. Knowledge of tournament administration and merchandising. Essential Responsibilities We are in the process of building a new clubhouse that will have three simulators along with a sports bar atmosphere. We are located in an area that is surrounded by a housing community although those houses to not butt up against the course. Any experience with simulators would be helpful. We also own Union Country Club in Dover, Ohio. That course is located within 3 miles of Oak Shadows. There will be opportunities to learn both public and private golf operations.
