Job Description

Operations Supervisor - Heavy Manufacturing Zanesville, OH | 4 Days On / 4 Days Off | 12-Hour Shifts Work 4 Days. Get 4 Days Off. Lead a Team That Makes an Impact. Are you an experienced manufacturing leader who would rather be on the floor leading people and driving results than sitting behind a desk? A well-established heavy industrial manufacturer in the Zanesville, Ohio area is looking for an Operations Supervisor to lead a melt shop production crew. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role where you'll have the authority to lead your crew, make operational decisions, solve problems, develop employees, and directly influence safety, productivity, and results. And the schedule is difficult to beat: 4 DAYS
ON / 4 DAYS OFF
You'll work 12-hour shifts on a 4-on/4-off rotation , giving you approximately 182 days off per year , roughly 78 more days off than a traditional Monday-Friday schedule. The facility operates 6:00-6:00 shifts, including nights, weekends, and off-shifts. What You'll Do You'll lead approximately 7-10 employees per shift and spend roughly 70-80% of your time on the manufacturing floor , providing visible, hands-on leadership.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop melt shop employees Drive a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and performance Assign daily work and communicate production priorities Lead shift kickoff meetings covering safety, production performance, priorities, and assignments Monitor production and respond to operational issues as they arise Serve as the primary operational decision-maker during assigned shifts, particularly nights, weekends, and other times when senior plant leadership may not be onsite Coordinate effective shift handoffs Monitor KPIs and support continuous-improvement initiatives Complete shift reports, timecard approvals, and required operational documentation Identify and develop future leaders within the operation Work closely with the Melt Shop Process Lead, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, and other facility leaders This isn't a position where you'll spend your day behind a computer. The company deliberately wants its supervisors on the floor with their people. What We're Looking For We're looking for a proven manufacturing leader who knows how to lead people, make decisions, and get results in a demanding production environment.
You should have:
Strong manufacturing operations experience Previous experience supervising, leading, coaching, or directing production employees Strong people-leadership and employee-development skills The ability to hold employees accountable while building strong working relationships Confidence making operational decisions independently Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Willingness to maintain a highly visible presence on the manufacturing floor Ability to work a 4-on/4-off, 12-hour rotating schedule Direct melt shop experience is not required . The company is primarily looking for a strong operations and people leader. Experience That Would Be Especially Valuable Experience in any of the following environments is a plus: Steel Aluminum Foundry Melt Shop Metals Processing Iron/Ductile Iron Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, KPI management, Gemba walks, daily huddles, or visual management systems is also beneficial. This Is True Heavy Manufacturing This is not a warehouse or light-manufacturing environment. You'll be working in an industrial metals operation and should be comfortable around heat, cold, dust, machinery, and the physical conditions associated with heavy manufacturing. SCHEDULE
Approximately 182 days off per year, about 78 more days off than a traditional Monday-Friday schedule.
ADDITIONAL EARNING OPPORTUNITY
This is a salaried position, but eligible additional shifts worked outside your normal schedule may receive straight-time overtime compensation.
