Job Description
Bookkeeping Operations Manager / Senior Controller Multi-Client Accounting | High-Volume Books | AI-Enabled Workflow. We are hiring a highly experienced Bookkeeping Operations Manager / Senior Controller to help lead bookkeeping operations across a growing portfolio of client businesses. This is not a basic bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who can own month-end close, manage multiple client entities, review the work of other bookkeepers/accountants, communicate clearly with business owners, and help us build a scalable bookkeeping operation powered by software, AI, and strong accounting fundamentals. The ideal candidate has experience in a CPA firm, outsourced accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, or multi-entity business environment and can work independently without constant supervision. You should be comfortable with high-volume transactions, messy client books, uncategorized expenses, reconciliations, client follow-up, financial reporting, and process improvement. Key Responsibilities Manage bookkeeping and accounting workflows across multiple client companies. Own full-cycle month-end close, including bank, credit card, loan, payroll, merchant processor, and balance sheet reconciliations. Review and supervise work prepared by bookkeepers or junior accountants. Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting. Identify unusual transactions, missing information, duplicate entries, unreconciled items, and client-side issues. Communicate with clients to resolve open questions and missing transaction details. Help develop standard operating procedures for high-volume client bookkeeping. Improve workflows using technology, automation, and AI-assisted tools. Support tax-ready books by ensuring categories, reconciliations, and documentation are clean throughout the year. Help management track client status, bottlenecks, deadlines, and reporting quality. Work closely with leadership to build a scalable bookkeeping service model inside Wylo Books. Required Qualifications 7+ years of progressive bookkeeping, accounting, controller, or general ledger experience. Direct experience managing books for multiple companies or clients at the same time. Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, and clean accounting workflows. Experience reviewing work prepared by other bookkeepers or accountants. Strong QuickBooks Online experience required. Experience with other accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Xero, or similar systems is a plus. Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and reconciliations. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple clients, and solve problems without micromanagement. Strong written communication skills for client follow-up and internal reporting. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. CPA, EA, or bookkeeping/accounting certification is a plus, but not required if experience is strong. Ideal Candidate You are the right fit if you: Have managed 20+ entities or client accounts at one time. Know how to clean up messy books and create a repeatable monthly close process. Can explain financials to business owners in plain English. Understand that bookkeeping is not just data entry — it is business visibility. Are comfortable using AI and automation to make the accounting process faster and more accurate. Can help build systems, not just complete tasks. Want to be part of a fast-growing bookkeeping and accounting technology company. To Apply Please submit your resume along with a brief note answering the following: The largest number of companies/entities you have managed at one time Your experience with QuickBooks Online and multi-client bookkeeping Your experience managing or reviewing the work of other accounting staff Why you believe you are a strong fit for a high-volume bookkeeping operations role
